Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

The national famous historical and cultural town of Pingle town is18 kilometers away from southwest of Qionglai city, Sichuan Province, where is the largest towns in Qionglai city, the town covers an area of 70 square kilometers, the town area is 1.28 square kilometers, Pingle Ancient Town is the national AAAA tourist area. Its history can be traced back to ancient times, in the early period of the Han Emperor (150 BC), it had formed a town, and it has been two thousand years of history. The ancient town is stacked with mountains and lush bamboo trees, Baimo River from west to north through the town, the four seasons are as beautiful as a painting. The two sides of vintage towering in the empty Chambers, many banyan trees with thousand years look like cloud. The old banyan trees, Baimo river, stilts along the river, paved streets with stone, for thousands of years to cultivate a town of idyllic landscape feelings, conserve natural, fresh local culture of ancient town. Pingle has a beautiful environment where create a excellent condition to have sketching outings for students loving art. We fell in love with the Feng Ming’s spirit and it inspired us to have dream flying here through our tireless efforts.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through the understanding of the Feng Ming Art Education Foundation, that a art education training bases at our school by honorary headmaster. I t authentically and objectively reflected our ideas, we experienced all the perspectives in outreach activities. During the independent research and hands-on way, students can solve the problems by applying the correlation of knowledge and experiences. In the course of thinking and working by themselves, students increased the knowledge and improved the skills of computer technology and network. With Professor Feng Ming’s struggles, it illustrates the theme of “Glory and Dream”. He moved all the teachers and students present with his experience story full of struggling, it caused bursts of applause. Professor Feng Ming said: 'only the mind is bright, we can live young, encourage students to love life, with a positive and optimistic attitude to face the frustrations. Professor Feng Ming also recalled his indissoluble fate with Pingle school, expressed his glory as a student in Pingle middle school, and encouraged all students to study hard for the school.

Our school has one E-lesson preparation room, 4 computer classrooms. 240 Computers are used most frequently daily by students. School has a campus network with accessing 30M broadband fiber.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Time is limited: As a student in high school, learning task is heavy. We lead a very regular life with having lessons at day and self-study at evening. While we are interested in participating in webpage-making competition, but time is limited, through repeatedly adjustments, we finished field trips. We learned information technology and network technology in Senior high school, there are great differences between those books on the theory and practical operation, with the help of teacher, we has been a qualitative leap in the image processing, the arrangement of words to the end of the web.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

With perseverance, one can even carve mental and gold. As high school students, we should take this attitude and tackle with any hardships in the spirit of perseverance. So every time difficulty comes, it reminds us of what professor Feng Ming said:” We should keep going on with smile no matter what happened, and refuse to give up. Storms always give way to the sun.”

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

With the interest of the students in mind, school hold on the fine tradition, continue to innovate in pushing on with the education reform and fully implement quality education. School has obtained good achievements in the nearly 60 years running, and won the governments' generally praise and support. CyberFair is a project that students develop a theme by putting theory into practice and to cultivate students' basic learning abilities. Emphasis on the purpose of participation and procedure, getting exercise in social practice activities, especially the high school new course reform has attached great importance to the cultivation of the students' social practice, which is an example of comprehensive practical activities curriculum, the core element of the research study and practice course.We obtain the information with information technology, through the network to access information of 'The lifetime of painting', and determine the theme to the project. Processing the incoming information obtained in practical activities, showing the skills of cooperation and communication. Through carrying on a comprehensive practical activity we developed our willingness to study. Knowledge as a tool, media and methodology is engaged in the entire process, which helps our foster correct learning view and comprehensive abilities in practical activities. Teachers gave full play to our initiative, lead us learn autonomously, told us learning method, and integrated it with practice and study. We improve our ability and show our talents in the activities.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Professor Feng Ming set up an Art Education foundation and training base at our school, which gave students loving art a great lift. Following his example, they study hard, defy difficulties, to lay the foundation in art and other subjects for becoming well-adjusted citizens in society in the future. Feng Ming's art training should be attributed to art students cultivation and development. By listening to Feng Ming's lecture, watching DVD, and interviewing students in the art exhibition hold by school, we study and explore thematic elements, our website’s theme is a true reflection of main ideas we would like to express.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our school is suited in the attractive Pingle old town. Undoubtedly, the rapid development of tourism played a critical role to promote local economic development, and then talent is the most valuable resource in regional economy development. By participating in Cyberfair, we show Feng Ming Art Education Training Base to the world, let students loving art have a good environment to grow up. Nearly three years, our school's arts examinees achieved excellent results on the college entrance examination, 192 art students into institutions and collages.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Famous painter professor Feng Ming took his time to come to our school to make a lecture. We interviewed the art teacher and students, studied the development status and achievement on art in school. Teacher Zhao Libing taught about digital camera and its usage. Chinese teacher Tian Jun helped us with making verbal changes in the material. ereby we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the substantial support received from many units and individuals in this thematic study!The country's famous military painter, a philanthropist, the founder of Pingle middle school art education training base, professor Feng Ming.Art teacher, Wu Zhisheng and Guo Hualei. 5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

In the process of independent exploration and personal practice, students will utilize their existing knowledge and experience in an all-round way and learn how to study in cultivation of their humanistic spirit and scientific literacy, and which will help students to increase their knowledge and improve their basic network skills through personal practice.
