1. Description of Our Community
It all began when we found out from our French teacher that there was this site Global School Net in which students from all over the world had the chance to express their opinion concerning different problems that had a great impact on the humanity. Last year we tried to bring up the problem of the two sister-countries from Europe: Romania and Moldavian Republic which were separated. We are not sure in what matter we succeeded, but we worked really hard on that project called Flower-Bridge and that was seen at the end of the competition when we received an honorable mention for our endeavors. In this year we want to exceed the historical and political problems and to center on culture. We have chosen three from the most beautiful “jewels” made from stone that are rising to the sky in the marvelous realm of Bukovina. (Historical region of Romania, strained with the history’s vestiges along the time) being testimony of the dignity and bravery of our ancestors. These monasteries belong also to the present through the interest that they cause to the groups of the foreign and Romanian tourists; they are visiting in every summer the monastery of Putna, where is reposing Stefan the Great, in those days Moldavia being on the highest brilliance, then the monastery of Bogdana from Radauti, which reminds us the I dismountment (descalecat) of Bogdan I, the oldest monastery carved in stone from Bukovina and the monastery of Sucevita, Movilesti’s foundation, fortress from the time of the Ottoman Empire’s assaults. This year we participate with the same team just like the last year; the members of the team are : a head-teacher Gavriluta Dorina and four students with ages between 17-18 years old, Monica C., Petruta C.,Ionut M., Iulian G., all of them are students of National College “Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi”. The teacher’s support in what concerns the rules of the project counted a lot for us. She was the one who helped us to get in contact with really important persons from the three monasteries; they gave us a lot of useful information. We all involved very much in this project and we took it very serious, each of us knowing exactly what is his part of work.
2. Summary of Our Project
Mute witnesses of a fussy history, embodiment of a stone-still faith of a nation which always placed its reliance in God, the monasteries in the North of Moldavia, peerless architectonic jewels, impress, impress through their sober elegancy which enframes perfectly in the splendid landscape of these slender, defiant realms, looking down at the crowd, bending their forehead towards God only, they knew how to be a durable footbridge between Earth and ski, keeping the balance through an alchemy known only by them, a combination of illusive beauty, humble faith and perfect harmony, a perpetual inducement to meditation. Contemplating at the monasteries makes you think at the transience of the world in front of the cosmic infinite. Here like in nowhere else, human’s aspiration towards elevation makes him forget how small and insignificant he is. With his soul full of peace and harmony he comes back quietly to the cumbersome daily duties, in a crazy world which forgets how evanescent life is.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome
We can not really say that we had big problems in making this project. Although there were some disorders about computer science classroom which were not always available. Because we have worked so hard, we succeeded to surround in due time given by Global School House to finish the project narrative. Another problem we confronted was the distance between our town and the place where two of the monasteries were situated, but in the end this minor problem was solved as we obtained all the necessary information from the holly places. Some of us were hard to find during the holidays. Finally it’s not so easy to put together all the gather information, but we are not complaining; we want to believe that our efforts will bring us success.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
First of all our project is addressed to the tourists and to those who are passionate by history and culture. These saint places are well known by most of the citizens from Romania, but also by foreigners from different countries. We would like to share these beautiful places with all of you, who wish to find out more about Romania. We are proud of our country and we truly believe that you would be surprised of what you’ll find out about us. Not only history, culture, but also religion, are important to our identity. A nation must evaluate all of its essential parts, that is why we are interested in presenting to you the well-known monasteries from Romania, which will impress not only through architecture, beautiful landscapes, interesting history, but also in a spiritual way. We hope our site will be able to get your souls as close as possible to ours and this way, understand and appreciate what we are trying to say and show to you.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
Our history rewrites and is implicated a part from rewriting the history of Moldavia. These aspects we are learning at school in the History and Religious Educational classes stimulated us to value more and more our jewels carved in stone. These great monasteries were and are still visited by groups of French and English tourists with who we are united and who had shown to be very overwhelmed by the beauty of the religious places from the North of Moldavia. The History send us to Stephen the Great, Vasile Lupu and Bogdan I, all of them teaching us to love and cherish our ancestors and the great values.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?
Our school is equipped to meet the standards for this project. Although the internet was our main source we used a variety of resources to gather information: books, oral and written interviews. On this project we had access on six computers: IntelPent4CPU/2,66GHz, 512 Mb of RAM, two telephones. We also used: digital cameras, Sony, to relate our experiences visually, and programs like: PowerPoint presentations, Microsoft Office XP, Webblender (for Web Design). These tools enhanced our mobile abilities and made for easier more effective presentations.
2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.
When we conceived this site our wish was to present everybody this small region full of beauty and amazing surroundings and what’s more important :the monasteries which enrich it by giving to the region a secret shining and a delight of the soul. Moreover we want to promote the tourism in Bukovina, not only on national level, but also on an international level; this region developed a tourism easy of access by all the people, beginning from those who want an adventure to those being in the search of some old cultures, kept with holiness. The churches and the monasteries are in perfect harmony with the mountains, forests and rivers of the surrounding landscape and meant to create a profound communion between the human being and the sacred world. It’s true that some of the tourists visit the monasteries to find a new source of light, a window towards the sky.
3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?
These stone walls, apparently frozen and indifferent to time are enclosing the things which are most precious for a Romanian: the spiritual beauty, the faith in God, the trust in people, the hope that better times will come for him. This is what should know those people who hastily label a whole nation, for whose honor were sacrifised so many lives, lives that the old eyes of the churches are still mourning for. Our project aims at getting an ample opening towards the wide spread human values, thus becoming a bridge between the people who love the beauty, whatever are their concerns, their orientation, their view upon life or upon the places where they live because the real aesthetic values have no boundariesThese stone walls, apparently frozen and indifferent to time are enclosing the things which are most precious for a Romanian: the spiritual beauty, the faith in God, the trust in people, the hope that better times will come for him. 4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
Our community may be very small and isolated from diplomatic activity, but we found many people to be extremely helpful. We deeply appreciate them for their time and effort. We have been helped by many persons from our school and our local community. We had luck because the teacher Cepuc, who is very passionate of History lend us many books, newspapers and different magazines, which were very helpfully for us. Another important help we received it from the superiors of the monasteries, who let us interview them and who gave us a lot of useful information .
5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)
The History spoke to us and our national heroes are still great examples for us to follow. If you visit one of these holly places you won't make only a culture and traditional 'bath', but also you will be yourself again. We have also learned to value our ancestors. We think that this is the History lesson which offers the jewls carved in stone. Come and visit them!
