Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Changhua County is a county in Taiwan and is called 'Taiwan Rice Warehouse'.Located in the middle of Taiwan’s main island, it borders Nantou County to the east by the Bagua Mountains.It borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, Zhuoshui River and Yunlin County to the south, and Wuxi and Taichung City to the north. Changhua County is the county-level administrative district with the largest population in Taiwan. It is also the only county with a population of over one million. Changhua County is dominated by plains. The rainy season in Changhua County is hot, muggy and mostly cloudy, and the dry season is warm and mostly sunny. During the year, the temperature usually varies from 13°C to 34°C, rarely below 9°C or above 36°C.The best time to visit Changhua for warm weather activities is from early October to mid-December.

2. Summary of Our Project

The students will try to ride bicycles from Changhua City along the newly built dike bike path beside Wuxi(a river name), Go west to the coast, cross the bridge to Taichung City to connect to the dike bike path on the opposite shore, and then return to Changhua City via the provincial highway.The whole journey is about 40km, to visit various scenic spots along the way, and to record and take photos in detail to provide the best guide and reference for future visitors.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The difficulties you will encounter include: 1. The journey will cross the general road and is not a bicycle lane, so we will ask another parent or someone who is good at riding a bicycle to protect it at the end of the team. 2. The journey is too far for many students, some students have the physical ability to complete the whole journey, other students may participate in a certain part of the journey. 3. Written web pages in English will use online translation software, and also ask the class instructor (bishop in English) to help find errors and use reasonable grammar

Participating in this event can help: 1. Students' data processing ability, writing ability, enhance the emotional and get along with classmates 2. For the school, it is for teachers to develop the experience of guiding students' web pages, and the experience of participating in similar activities, and even become the characteristic of this school 3. For the community, let residents also know how to cherish the existing tourism resources, and even make better connections and development.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

For the first-year students of junior high school, the course to modify the webpage has not yet started, so we use the webpage of the previous senior to modify it, and we can only recognize English words less than a thousand words, so in addition to using translation software, we also request Help from English teacher.

In the course of the project, students learned how to use communication and E-mail to send files and photos, and use Google Doc to edit documents together; of course, they also learned basic bicycle driving safety. They also learned time control And assign work.

Using the Internet to teach and learn is more efficient than traditional methods, but it is also easy for everyone to use habits and laziness and it is impossible to really know whether the learning is invested or whether it was completed by himself.

Computer: 5 pc + 2NB (between Amd A10~ Intel i5 6th Gen) Phone: 4G mobile x5 Digital Camera: Canon IXUS 870 IS Printer and scanner: HP Deskjet 5652, HP Officejet 5610 Computer software: FB Messenger, LINE, DreamWeaver, Firefox, Opera, Photoshop

The mobile phone is the most versatile tool, it can communicate, take pictures, video, and record.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

The whole topic is in the nature of tourist guides, so most of the work is in data collection and sorting, taking pictures and explanations.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We hope to be able to convey to the place, junior high school students are also willing to be in touch with public affairs, and also willing to care about the local ecology and scenery, and are willing to be the guides of the scenic spots, arousing the importance of the place's natural scenery and culture.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We have interviewed farmers by the bicycle lanes and asked them what the names of the agricultural products are; we have also visited the volunteers in the temple and asked about the origin of the gods in the temple; they have provided very clear information, and let We know more about the local area.
