Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Changhua County was named “Ban Xian” and known as “Taiwan’s Rice Barn.” In the Qing Dynasty, Lugang Town was one of the quickly developed cities. As a result, it earned the name, “Fucheng, Lugang and Manka.” Local produce includes Dacun/Xihu’s grape, Fenyuan’s lychee, Shetou’s guava, and Yunlin’s starfruit, high quality agricultural products marking to the whole Taiwan. Immigrants from Fujian and Guangdong also created different cultures here. Landmark sites include Baguashan Great Buddha Statue and Lugang Longshan Temple, also known as “Taiwan’s Imperial Palace,” and Grand Mazu Temple. In the ancient time, the said two temples were known by people with three other famous ones: Hu Shan Yan, Bao Zang Temple, and Qing Shui Yan.

2. Summary of Our Project

The Great Buddha Statue Scenic Area, one of Taiwan’s tourism sites, is located at the half way of Baguashan in Northeastern Changhua. Because it is one of the National Baguashan Scenic Areas, it is named “Baguashan Great Buddha Statue Area.” Behind the Great Buddha Statue, there is the Buddha Temple where visitors can have a glance of the whole Changhua City and streets. On sunny days, visitors can see clearly Taichung Fire Power Plant in a 360-degree wide-angle view. Visitors can also climb on the two eight-story pagodas on the sides to see Changhua City better. The Government planed this area for the public to get to know and appreciate features of Baguashan Great Buddha Statue.
