Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Taiwan is the country we live in. There is lots of special culture and ecosystems. But global warming is getting worse and worse recently.Nothing is worse than this. And our environment is influenced and threatened.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project begins with Taiwan mountains and then influences the environment and introduces mountains in Taiwan. We hope everyone can understand mountains and the environment in Taiwan by this project.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:21-50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:not sure

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:1

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

First,we don't have any basis about coding, upload, and typesetting. Then,we don't know how makes a website. So we look for a teacher to teach us to code the website,we don't have idea. Second,we don't have time to ask people around Taiwan mountain range because it's too far for us.We are in urban area, and they are at mountains so we can't visit them during this project.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

For our community,it means we have connection with other place. For our school,it is a challenge because we are Taiwanese in chinese, english is difficult for us. For us,we learned lots of things in the project!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

I participated in this project because of my friend's recommendation. To join in this project you need to have a basic understanding of coding. It connects to the geography and computer science.I learn lots of skills, such as the higher order of HTML, searching for information and how to lead and communicate with the others teammates.I learn that a team need to communicate and need to have a specific division of works. We found the information that not in textbooks. In my education system,we learn everything. We are students, but also a teacher. I think Internet teaching. must be more efficient than traditional teaching, because now you can use the internet anywhere, and that means you can learn anytime, anywhere. And using the internet to teach can also provide more information and more pictures for students to reference.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We only used the computer to finish this project. These computers were provided by the school.Because we didn’t use lots of kinds of “real tools”, I will talk about some online tools or software here. We use “Wikipedia” to understand the mountains and animals we need to provide, then we can use “Google” to find more and more information. And we also tried to use some “travel diaries” to help us find them. When we were writing code,we used “Visual Studio Code' to help us. The most important is we used “Scribens Grammar Checker' to correct the mistakes we have in English. I think the most valuable thing is “Wikipedia”, because it helps us a lot to learn.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We didn't produce a report on the poll.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We believe that this website can bring considerable benefits to the community. It not only allows you to better understand the mountains of Taiwan, but also knows the development process, humanities and history, and other detailed information so that they have a more comprehensive understanding of the various mountains. Besides, we also made an introduction to Taiwan’s flora and fauna. In addition to spreading this knowledge to the public, it also reflects the criticality of these animals and plants. While understanding these natural creatures, we can also learn the importance of protecting the environment. Therefore, we hope to share the mountains of Taiwan through this website, so that the world can see the beauty of Taiwan.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

After some discussion, everyone was satisfied with the solution.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Before doing this topic, I didn't know much about this topic. It was not until after in-depth exploration that many interesting facts and knowledge were known.
