Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Changhua County, formerly known as 'half line', is also known as 'the granary of Taiwan'. In the Qing Dynasty, Lukang town became one of the rapidly developing cities, bring it the reputation of 'Fucheng, Lugang and Manka'. There are many delicacies in Changhua, such as meatballs, mutton ovens, preserved fruits, oyster omelet and so on. Agricultural products of Changhua include grapes from Dacun / Xihu, litchi from Fenyuan, guava from Shetou, Yangtao of Yuanlin, and so on. These are all excellen

2. Summary of Our Project

Changhua Roundhouse is located in the north of Changhua railway station. It was built in 1922. The roundhouse building takes the shunting turntable as the center and forms a semicircle arc house with 12 tracks lying radially. It belongs to one of the products left over by the Japanese-occupation period. During the visit, we had the opportunity to see the locomotive entering the roundhouse for maintenance or leave it for duty. We also experienced the actual operation of Roundhouse in a short dist

(1)66 computers at two computer labs were used for data search.

(2)Most team members have cell phones and computers at home;on weekends and holidays and after class, we used LINE to transmit data and discuss.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

(1)Work Schedule:

Due to personal factors or the need to go to cram schools, it was not easy for us to find time to get together.

(2)Difficulty to Construct Webpage:

We were new to webpage construction and there were many questions we had at the beginning.

1.Found time to discuss together on summer and winter vacations, in weekends, or on holidays.

2.Made best use of spare time.

1.We consulted IT teachers or senior students that participated in Cyberfair before.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The team members completed a webpage through teamwork, personal inspections, interviews, and inquiries. Not only do you know more about your hometown, you have broadened your horizons, and you are more familiar with the use of computers

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

1.Language field: Reports, analysis, field interviews, collation of materials, etc.

Develop our language and writing skills.

2. Social field: study the history, geography, nearby attractions and field visits of the 'fan-shaped garage'

Fan garage place history and culture.

3. Arts and literature: computer art arrangement and web page production, let us learn the design and research

The concept of equivalence, and the beauty of everywhere in the fan-shaped garage, let us feel the beauty of art.

4.Information field: through the process of data query, web page creation, editing pictures, etc., to strengthen our computer skills.

Operation ability and familiarity.

5. Comprehensive areas: study etiquette, skills, teamwork and time management.

Interdisciplinary Field:

We learned manners and techniques of interviews as well as team cooperation and time management.

Because of the project, we knew geographical location and culture of Baguashan and after on-site investigation and discussions after interviews, we have been closer.

We are through email and phone calls with Mr.CHEN,WUN-RUEI.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Because of the project, we knew geographical location and culture of Roundhouse and after on-site investigation and discussions after interviews, we have been closer.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

1.Staff of Roundhouse: I want to thank Mr. CHEN,WUN-RUEI and all the colleagues in Baguashan for helping us in our interview. We will slowly explain to us where there is no solution. If they are not there for a long time, we will not have our website.

2.Local: Local people are warm and made us feel like being home.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

After several rounds of interviews, when we expressed our thoughts in front of many people, we felt less nervous. This is a huge improvement we have made and will definitely benefit us in the future. This is a valuable experience, and although it will be an opportunity, we will cherish those memories.
