Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Fenyuan Township is located in the northeast of Changhua County, Taiwan, at the junction of Changhua County, Taichung City, and Nantou County. A garden in Fenyuan originated from the cultivation of poppy tobacco by local residents during the Qing period. The tobacco was called 'Fen' or 'hun' in Taiwanese. At present, the agricultural products of Fenyuan are mainly pineapples, followed by coffee that has been actively revived in recent years.

2. Summary of Our Project

Fenyuan Township Farmers ’Association and Tongan Elementary School have also actively revived Fenyuan coffee in recent years. After few farmers have promoted the farmers’ association, dozens of coffee farms have been developed. In addition, Tongan Elementary School is also actively developing coffee. Teaching and classifying coffee as the school's standard course, I hope that through the efforts of all circles, the successful recultivation of Fenyuan Coffee will become a local feature.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

I think the biggest problem in the group is lack of time. In the school can only use a short lunch break time, and some of the number is often unable to come because many people in this group have other positions are also lunch time meeting. So we use winter vacation more leisure time, and went to the school together to do the site, will be additional at home production. Members of this group are business management department. In the computer program is not often contact, so do not familiar with using it. Thanks teachers carefully taught almost zero from the beginning. If there are small places unknown we will support each other, or Find answers from the web yourself. Every week we will have a meeting for making and discussing website, and draw up a goal, everyone assign different jobs, some teammate may not hand out on time because of the personal reasons, caused our inconvenience, Otherwise we will review our job assign, readjust, and let the finished teammates help those who were unfinished, helping each other, and play our team force.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We through lots of interviews and practice s to finish our Topic, and by the process we promoted a lot of concept of seed paper. Even grant questionnaires (about 182 papers), also let more people to understanding seed paper. Many people do not know this, even surprise their exist. Also think about the significances of them---How to regeneration environmental resources ! Blessing may become environmental protection. Make the seed of gratitude germinate again. After watching out Topic, we believe that more and more people willing to think more. We also make an effort for environmental protection of the world.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We discussed during our lunch break, using websites making skill in computer class, analysis skill in business class, and language logic in English class. In addition to teachers help, we also visited businessmen, made some investigations ,found some books and looked for studios to learn how to make paper ,and we gained a lot.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We use 22 computers, telephones,TV and radio stations, video and digital cameras, digitizers and scanners to record our works. We go to libraries and read many books, to find the news of seed paper. At last, we made an oral interviews to meet the founder in Taiwan.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through the theme research of Fenyuan Coffee, we learned that coffee can co-exist with the environment, and through the teaching of coffee, more people can know the history and characteristics of Fenyuan Coffee. We also found that the original land in the hometown is like a mother, who silently guards every generation. No matter when it is poor or rich, everyone should cherish all kinds of home environment and coexist with the land forever.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

From the course of this special study, we have learned about the fading cultural industry of coffee, and saw the farmers' association and coffee farmers with a tradition of persistence and enthusiasm, although they all know that the pineapple industry has become a specialty of 139 County Road in Fenyuan Township. , But along the way, I still insist on the spirit of rejuvenating coffee, revitalizing the community, and persisting in the end. We want to share the spirit of 'responsibility for the environment and respect for enthusiasm' to more people. With the increase of people's attention to environmental issues and the development of community characteristics, in this research project, our team and the promotion, planting, marketing and education of coffee, learning to grow coffee and harvest production, hoping to make more local and even It is other residents who know the 'History and Status of Fenyuan Coffee', which has aroused many people's response and cared about the environmental problems of lack of soil and water conservation for many crops. Through this web-based special survey, we have the opportunity to learn about the special research and share the environmental friendliness of coffee. We hope that through the power of the Internet, more people will be concerned about the positive changes that coffee can bring to the environment.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

During this Fenyuan coffee research process, we set up local communities many times. In addition to visiting promotion education and production and sales experts, we also conducted street questionnaires. Local elders and tourists were very enthusiastic about us. In addition, when we were in the heat When setting up booths in the hills to provide questionnaires, we also provided our venues and tables. For understanding and exploring the fading farming industry of coffee, we noticed the local people's recognition of the coexistence of the ancestors and the environment friendly early, and also for us to revive coffee and development With the support of coffee culture, we also hope to regenerate the coffee tree to form local characteristics.
