Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Sanyu Elementary School was founded in 1993. It is a small school located in Tianmu. Looking out the window of each classroom, one can see the green mountains and green trees, and even hear birds. Our school also has a rainwater recycling house. Moreover, we have actively sought to set up the Taipei City campus weather observation station, revealing the fact that our school pays attention to environmental protection. Near the school, there are many new immigrants because of the good living functions located at the foot of the mountain, as well as many holiday and leisure attractions. Our neighbor, Yangmingshan, is a good friend of all residents in Tianmu. During holidays, one can climb the Shuiguan Trail, or when the cold current comes, one may drive up to the mountain to go to the hot spring. Tienmu is also a good attraction for those who do not love to get close to the nature. In the Tienmu business district, there are bazaars, Sanyu Temple, many boutiques and so on ... It is very suitable for those who love shopping or go worshipping in temples!

2. Summary of Our Project

Sanyu Temple was built in 1947 and is now located on Tianmu East Road of Shilin District. It is also a very important temple in this area. In addition to the Taiwanese coming here for worshipping, there are also visitors from all over the world to pray for peace. In 1945, after the World War II, Taiwan was reclaimed by the KMT and the Japanese returned to Japan. The statue of Tenmokyo was left unattended and the temple became a ruin. The locals were sad about it and decided to relocate the temple to the current intersection of Section 6 and Section 7 of Zhongshan North Road, and intersection of Tianmu East Road and Tianmu West Road. After the relocation, it is a more complete small temple of god of the earth. After the introduction of the history of Sanyu Temple, in order to enable more people to learn about its stories, we’ve combined the tour guide robot with the temple to enable the Robot to offer a tour, display historical films, remind visitors of the rules in the temple, etc. Moreover, in order to enable visitors to interest with the Robot, we’ve designed the Robot with different facial expressions and movements. For example, the robot can say hello and ask a visitor whether he/she needs help in a tour. Hopefully, our modifications can create a more convenient visiting process and improve the reputation of Sanyu Temple.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

sometimes, when we intended to search data, we had no idea what the keywords were. Therefore, we would ask our teacher for advices about keywords and methods for arranging data. When we wrote the program of KebbiRobot, we also encountered many difficulties. Fortunately, all team members joined the discussions and our teacher offered instructions to help us smoothly solve problems.
