1. Description of Our Community

The proportion of Hakkas in the Guoxing is more than 75 percent. It is the largest Hakka settlement in Nantou County. The Hakka culture is strong, and it is a unique literati of the Guoxing. It is also an important part of sightseeing attraction. The water system in the township is complete. It has a rich development hinterland and is an area for planning the development potential of leisure and retirement.

2. Summary of Our Project

When you want to get close to nature and stay away from the busy pace of the city, you can come to this country with a Hakka culture and customs. With the hospitable Hakkas, you will enter the country and taste the rich scenery of the country. Gourmet with crops. In the whole year, the mountains are surrounded by the country's surname. If you walk into the country name in the spring of the spring, you must go to Nangang Village to enjoy the plum blossoms. The white plum blossoms along the road are dazzling in the mountains and forests, just like entering the paradise. In addition, this topic also introduces the historical and cultural attractions of the country name and township - Xianfo Temple, historical monuments, glutinous rice bridge, and stone culture park. And you can't miss the most local Hakka activities every year - the rush to succeed. Through the introduction of the website, you can learn more about the seasonal fruits in all seasons. The delicious sugar oranges, dates, peaches, oysters, etc. are all tourist attractions that you can't miss in the country.

For this contest, we met some difficulties. Firstly, we found that taking good pictures is not an easy thing. It’s common to take no sense or not clear photos. So we decide to refer other website’s photo and ask for photographers advice. After this useful help, we finally had useable pictures. Second difficult we met is we have a lot of information about Guoxing, but we felt that is not good enough to touch someone’s heart, so we set out to interview local people, let us had more story about Guoxing and it’s history.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

For this contest, we met some difficulties. Firstly, we found that taking good pictures is not an easy thing. It’s common to take no sense or not clear photos. So we decide to refer other website’s photo and ask for photographers advice. After this useful help, we finally had useable pictures. Second difficult we met is we have a lot of information about Guoxing , but we felt that is not good enough to touch someone’s heart, so we set out to interview local people, let us had more story about Guoxing and it’s history.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The activity enhanced the ability to collect and compile information, communication skills and the sense of team work of the team members.In Webpage hands-on production process, learning knowledge, mastering the basic skills of the information technology, strengthen the cooperation and exchange of the team consciousness.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This competition fitted well with an elective course, computer programming. We learned how to cooperate and communicate with each other. Furthermore, we also learned how to use PhotoImpact, Adobe MUSE cc, FileZilla and other softwares. From this assignment, we felt that just listening to our teacher’s lecture in the classroom and submitting some easy homework was not enough. Our teacher not only passed knowledge to us but also instructed us how to put theories into practice. We learned something from our books and pushed ourselves to do many things on our own. It’s the most important experience for us.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

For the technologies about website design, we learned how to use PhotoImpact, Adobe MUSE cc, FileZilla and other softwares. For the information we tried to obtained, we surfed online and read lots of book in the library. We also arranged some interviews with councilor Lee in Kaohsiung, some abbots in temples and local people in the Tourist Service Center and some stores. We even had a small talk with some visitors when taking photos here. As to photography, our teacher taught us how to take photos well and how to use computer tools to make our photos look better.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

1.Some enthusiastic locals were willing to be our guides and led us to somewhere we were planning to go. 2. Some older local people told us about historical spots here. We, therefore, obtained information unexpectedly. 3. Some people were eager to provide relevant information and told us stories about scenic spots. 4.Some local residents even came along with us to visit some places, which made our visits go smoothly. 5. In addition to Mr. Tian, we couldn’t complete this job without many local people who we didn’t know their complete names. They were like our neighbors and friends. Thank you so much.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

1. We promoted local tourism development and made local people participate in our research. 2. We advertised the Scenic Spots at Guoxing and some local products when we went go our field trips. Some visitors we encountered even took our suggestions to try the favorite food, Wanton Soup, here. And some youngsters showed their interest to our website and became our friends on Facebook. Our website was different from the official one in our government. Ours is more concise and friendly to surf. Especially, students or youngster always liked to surf some websites people at their age constructed. 3. In the interviews, some locals gave us some effective feedback. They introduced us some valuable historical background and some favorite food. Some students also told us what kind of websites they liked to surf.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

To complete this project, we got many helpers. Without their aids, we couldn’t finish this job. 1. Some local people volunteered to be our guides to lead us to some scenic spots. It really saved us more time. 2. Some local older people told us about historical spots. We obtained information unexpectedly. 3. Some local people were eager to provide relevant information and told us stories about scenic spots. 4. Some local residents who we didn’t know their complete names came along with us to visit some places. It really made our visit go on smoothly.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

1. This project helped us improve many abilities such as careful observation, aesthetic concept and operation practice. 2. After several month's investigation and deep research to the Guoxing at Nanto, we not only enjoyed the beauty of the scenic spots but also learned some legends here. We, finally, knew the reason why our city government was going to develop tourism at Guoxing with massive investment. It’s no doubt that many tourist attractions here had a long history and precious value. 3. In the processes of field trips, because the team did not have a more organized plan, we did some repeated work and submitted some assignments late. However, we revised our work and schedule again. Finally, we could finish all the assignments. In other words, we learned from our mistakes and learned a lot of things from doing. 4. Some senior locals really praised our efforts we had done and encouraged us to finish our task without being afraid of any difficulties.
