Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Taiwan is a community where most of the people use scooters as a transportation. The effect of this is that it brings air pollution. However,Gogoro is changing this situation. We want to do something for better tomorrow.

2. Summary of Our Project

Founded in 2011, Gogoro is putting energy into things that matter. With a mission to deliver consumer innovations that will improve how the world’s most populated cities distribute and utilize energy, the company is enabling the transformation of megacities into smart cities. Gogoro is working toward a better future by putting power in the hands of everyone – to move us all forward, faster. Our project is to develop this idea and further promote it to the world in order to reduce air pollution.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

There were a lots of difficulties that we had to conquered. First of all, the popularity rate of Gogoro stores and stations is not balanced. You can find many Gogoro stations in Taipei or Taichung. However, in cities such as Douliou, there’s only one Gogoro charging station. Therefore, it is really hard for us to do our research. We have to go to Taipei or Taichung city to do the interview every time. Also, because theirs is no Gogoro store in Douliou, so it is really hard to find a Gogoro scooter on the road. Which, is really hard for us to collect data or information. Last but not least, We were almost running out of time, there’s only 5 of us in the team and we have a big exam coming. Therefore, every things have to be done as quick as possible and need to be efficient.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

To us, International Schools Cyberfair is an excellent competition that inspires students to try their best to make their own website and do research on a specific topic. When students are doing International Schools Cyberfair project, they are able to improve themselves, which is the most valuable value in International Schools Cyberfair.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Because of global warming, people are starting to become environmentally conscious. In order to save our planet Earth, reducing exhaustion is one of the solution. This project makes us understand how important is it to keep our environment clean, including air quality. Even though the result might not be obvious. However, believe in yourself and try not to make it worse is the best solution to the current issue.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We used computers to do research on the internet. We also made interviews using skype or other online software. Mobile phones were also neeave to record the contact information from the staff.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Most of our visits or interviews were contacted by mobile phone. Normally, interviews were done quickly, however, it is difficult to absorb many informations in such a short time. Therefore, we have to do interviews on the same person for several of time.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

During this project, we had interviewed many Douliou citizens. They think the ideas of what Gogoro is doing right now are great. We can spread the idea of environmental friendly to the city and every community. However, they also want more Gogoro charging stations so that it will be more convenient for Gogoro riders.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Most of our helpers were teachers and parents from different teammates. However, there are still many other helpers such as those staffs in he Gogoro company, they were wiling and glad to help us by doing interviews. I really appreciate and feel very tankful to have them get involve in this project. Even a little move will make our work easier and simpler.
