Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Maxian mount has views in four seasons. In late autumn and early winter, the mountain top is slightly cooler, there is snow in the shade of the mountain and it is never melt all the year. In spring and summer, the blue sky, silver mount with snow, green trees, brilliant flowers, constitute a colorful picture. Maxian mountain is covered with snow, there is grass and forest under the mountain, itis not only the loess 'green Rock Island', but also the 'wet town' incentral arid region of our province. Every summer, a flock of sheep like white clouds floating all over the mountains and plains, the scenery is very beautiful and spectacular.

2. Summary of Our Project

This was our first time to take part in Webpage Competition. We were filled with hope, worry and fear. At the beginning, we pre-selected a few topics through finding out and referring data, based on comparison, we selected “Charming Maxian Mountain” as our research topic in term of novelty, effectiveness and feasibility. And then we started to plan, pay visits and split up to collect information. Everybody was conscientious with their work, and wrote reports at any time. We took advantage of weekend to Maxian Mountain for field trips, experiencing the hard and happiness while we were going hiking. It was a big, big challenge for us because we are always busy studying, at the same time we involved with webpage making. Due to time constraints, our website could be improved.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1,pressed for time, in terms of balancing study with webpage making competition, we were so rushed with the tasks, We had a great day, and had a sense of accomplishment, although we were exhausted every day during one month. 2, no convenient in operating computer, we had to use computer during after class or weekend. At first, we were not good at operating computer, we had wasted a lot of precious time, yet we did it. 3, we only have time on weekend to pay a visit outside school. Maxian Mountain is about 20 kilometers away from our school, and it is at higher elevations. Teacher organized us to go to Maxian Mountain on weekend, and every member of the team was able to arrive on time for every trip. Finally, any hard difficult was resolved by our persistent pursuit.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We gained a rare experience in this webpage competition. After all, it's precious to have a chance to challenge ourselves. Everybody is as one to challenge and dealt with the difficulties with full confidence. From knowing a little about webpage to be a master, everybody felt that we have learned a lot and also grow up. All of us had a feeling of great pleasure and satisfaction.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In the school, we study the theory knowledge, in this special research, we combined the theory and the practice, apply the knowledge to the practice. Among them, when dealing with people, we think that Chinese political teacher talked about the case, we humbly understand and frank; in search of Maxianshan relevant information, we learn from the geography, the history teacher introducedbackground knowledge and the collection method; in the web production process, we took a lot of time to access the Internet, we felt that the things we had learned on the class was useful, and we also asked a lot of questions to out computer teacher. Through this activity, we are not only familiar with the computer operation, but also exercise the ability to practice. Although it is very difficult, we insist on. We really got a lot in this event.

We appeal to everyone to let us use the hearts of pious respect for protecting and developing our native specialties.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

1, We not only improved our cultural accomplishment and computer ability in this activity, but also made us have more recognition in the homeland’s special scenic spots. We gained a lot in the process, and we will know the importance of team work and trying. By research and promotional activities, we hope many people come to Maxian Mountain for sightseeing. 2, Local people are proud to be Yuzhong people, and they feel real love for their beautiful home land. They also would like to cooperate and follow us to give a scant help for hometown tourist.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We finished the work in time. Looking back one month, we were filled with emotion. Many enthusiasts’help made us feeling warm although it was a difficult process. School leader always attached their most attentions to the progress that we made website. Teachers in IT teaching research groups provided us more and more convenience, they always instructed us and stayed with us until we went out of school. Teacher Yue usually kept tabs on our webpage making, gave us advices, provided a lot of good ideas, and helped us with optimizing for the web. Maxian Mountain management staff gave us warm welcomes many times, be patient to spend a lot of time explaining things to us. Hereby, all members would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of them.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

With the in-depth study, we knew more about Maxian Mountain, and heard about many stories that local people are familiar with. We were amazed to find that one person or one team has a lot of potential, if we take time to try and dig deeper. There are a lot of good things around us that we may not even care about. Let’s stop to enjoy them.
