Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Tea village is in Huangmiao village, Linji Town, Honglai City with convenient transportation, Hong-Ming Highway passes through the village. Nodaway a new ramp built by local government at the Linji Town is linked with the roads in surrounding areas. The village has 8 kilometer away from Pinle old town where the school is located. The famous Chinese historical and cultural towns - Pingle is located southwest of Qionglai City, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, of which the township area is 1.28 square kilometers. In old town area the building area of Ming and Qing Dynasties amount to 235,400 square meters, 85% preserved to the Original look. With Long history, thriving arts and humanities, overlap green mountains, lush bamboo, the Baimo River runs through the town from west to north, the clean water lingering, gulls and birds appearing, looking as a pictures in four seasons. There are ancient trees with thousands of years old in the riverbanks of Baimo, like cloud cover ground in the distance. With old banyan trees, Baimo Rive, bamboo house along the river, streets paved by bluestones, a sea of bamboo jointly create an pastoral atmosphere of town people, raising the fresh natural local culture in old town over thousands of years.

2. Summary of Our Project

With the development of productivity in rural areas and the rise of living standards, more and more people pay attention to 'Green, health, ecological and safe' food, food is the first necessity of the people, the organic food industry development not only has been recognized by the consumers and the market, but also plays an important role to the development of the local economy, government attaches great importance, enterprise invests heavily, and it improves the rural development of the aquaculture industry, environment is cleaner, food is more ecological safe and reliable. Through exploring the unique food and cultural development of the brand enterprise culture industry, we understand that the enterprise plays an important role to promote local industrial development and local economic. We get exercise in the process of practice and constantly enrich ourselves. By a positive survey of the “Jialin Eco Farm”, in practice investigation of Management office and social visits to think of innovative theme, students objectively reflect their true thoughts, focusing on participation and the process to get the purpose of the exercise in the social practice. The new high school curriculum reform attaches great importance to student’s practical ability and comprehensive practical activities are listed as compulsory courses, in which the core curriculum is research study and social practice. Students in the active studies, hands-on process synthetically use existing knowledge and experience to solve problems, learning how to learn, developing human spirit and scientific literacy. High School IT network fundamentals is the module of elective courses, in hands-on process, increasing knowledge, improving the basic skills of network infrastructure.

Our school has 4 e-classrooms with 20m telecom fiber access, 240 computers. It is convenient for student to use computer. Teacher offices set up 30M optical fiber broadband access. Wireless internet covers on school. The OA system takes shape.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The time to go out an interview and make webpage was limited. Students are very busy to study in senior school, with self-study every morning, attending classes in daytime, self-study every evening, living very regular campus life. Though with very strong interest in participating in competition of website, but unfortunately time is limited, by guiding repeatedly of teachers, finally student complete the task of collecting folk songs. Although we learn IT network technology in first grade of high school, existing huge difference between theory and practice, under the patience helping of instructor, we make great progress from dealing with pictures, collating words to the final web design. It’s our first time for participating in this practical activity, confronting with a lot of difficulties and problems in the process. Teacher told us that 'With perseverance, never give up, stone can be carved into flower,' and we have great fun in the process of overcoming difficulties.

Perseverance, never give up is the attitude that should be owned by our high school students; no matter what difficulties we meet.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

CyberFair is a project that students develop a theme by putting theory into practice and to cultivate students' basic learning abilities. Emphasis on the purpose of participation and procedure, getting exercise in social practice activities, especially the high school new course reform has attached great importance to the cultivation of the students' social practice, which is an example of comprehensive practical activities curriculum, the core element of the research study and practice course. We obtain the information with information technology, through the network to access information of 'Jialin Eco Farm', and determine the theme to the project. Processing the incoming information obtained in practical activities, showing the skills of cooperation and communication. Through carrying on a comprehensive practical activity we developed our willingness to study. Knowledge as a tool, media and methodology is engaged in the entire process, which helps our foster correct learning view and comprehensive abilities in practical activities. Teachers gave full play to our initiative, lead us learn autonomously, told us learning method, and integrated it with practice and study. We improve our ability and show our talents in the activities.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Use digital camera to take pictures, Use Photoshop and CorelDraw to produce images and format images, Use 17888 to make webpage, Use DV to feed video and audio file into computer, Use Scanner to scan photos.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through our practice survey and inquiry, we introduced local market brands to the outside world; that provide green, health, safety food to the mass. Building a green and wonderful leading enterprise can develop local economic growth and increase local farmers' income.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our school sits Pingle old town in tourism economic development, Jialin Eco Farm has just a few kilometers away from Pingle old town. The development of rural breeding not only provides local people with employment opportunities, but also stimulates local economic development, resulted in the growth of farmers’ income and local people reputation. Water vilage of western Sichuan - Pingle Ancient Town attractes more tourists. Our work is to better publicize the tourism resource of Pingle ancient town to the outside world.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Doctor Xu from Sichuan Agricultural University brought our attention to Jialin Eco Farm, Mr. Xu Zhiyong, a manager of Jiaolin Eco Farm, helped us for interview, Teacher Zhao Libing told us how to use camera, Chinese teacher Tian Jun helped us revise reports In the research process, many units and individuals received strong support, at this point, we say thank you sincerely! Through students’ active studies, hands-on process, student has been using synthetically existing knowledge and experience to solve problems, learning how to learn, developing human spirit and scientific literacy. In the hands-on process, student increase knowledge and master certain basic IT skills.
