Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Douliu is where the county government is. The transportation is convenient which is good for developing green travel. Douliu is also where Victoria Academy located. We’ve been here for sixteen years and noticed there was no good travel guides about Douliu. Therefore, we’d like to do this and make contributions.

Since September 2014, we’ve been collecting all the information for tourism in Douliu. Teachers, parents and students joined our facebook group and provided abundant information. Also, we took photos of interviews and shared in this group. We arranged lots of visit and workshop to motivate students help with tourism development. Our project is divided into five categories. 1. About the enterprise: introduction, visions, products, interview with the funder 2. Bees’ ecosystem: Victoria Academy’s Bee and Co., crisis 3. Bee farmers: A sweet family, interviews with farmers 4. Contribution: education, charity, ecco Hands-on: marketing, making products, exhibitions, charity sale, guided tour

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Victoria Academy was founded sixteen years ago. We participated in Cyberfair project every year, and always got good results. In the past, junior high school used subject research course and incorporated more teachers and students to join in. This year, we combined national and international class students to do the research together. We weren’t usually free at the same time, and there were a lot of attractions to visit, so we had to do this individually or in small groups. Eventually, we organized the data together before winter break.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Where there’s a will, there’s a way. There are no problems too difficult to solve.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Most of our junior high school students were from our elementary school. They wanted to do this Cyberfair project because they’re concerned about local issues, and hope this subject can be incorporated in each subject class and apply the knowledge to Cyberfair projects.

Moreover, we’d like thank Mr. Lin, the head of Hushan Village who introduced the ecology of Hushan reservoir.
