Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our school is in the suburbs of Kaohsiung city, close to Niaosong Wetlands. Our community really focuses on Environmental issues. Our students want to learn more about the environment to help the environment in our community.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project is that students research on Green Technology in the world and in Taiwan. Try to learn the advantages of green technology examples in the world to help our local green technology and make our green techology be localized and globalized. Taiwan already sets up a good example as good recyling management and good energy-generation ways. However, our younger generation should look for more and better ways to conserve the enery in Taiwan by learning from the good examples of Green Technology of the world.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:2-3

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Students use technology to collaborate with Korean students, Denmark students to find out more about their green technology. In the beginning, they were nervous and didn't have a lot of confidence. After more practice through the project, they gained confidence and dare to speak in front of the class about Green technology confidently with appropriate gestures, face expressions and creative ways.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

This International School CyberFair makes my students to learn on the platform and find out how students in other countries do research on finding out the truth, origins or facts related to their topics. They learn a lot. They don't have to go abroad to interact with students all over the world. They just log on to Internatioanl School CyberFair. It is very beneficial to our students.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Our content standard is to achieve learning the knowledge of Global Green Technology and Taiwan Green Technology. From the content, we can find out the problems existing in our country and learn from other countries' examples. This project is interdisciplinary project. Students have to inquire to gather the information through ICT or other ways. Our school especially emphasizes on International Education so the project here fits the curriculum guidelines and also in the year 2018, the government will practice the new 107 curriculum guidelines but our students are already ready for it because they continuously work on this project. They have learned communication, ICT, creatiity and problem-solving skills. The education system in Taiwan put too much emphasis on tests and examination and ignore the importance of deep learning and creative learning. In this project, students learn in a different way but better understand the knowledge of Green technology. In this project, students learn actively instead of taking exams to learn things.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We have classes in the school computer lab. Sometimes students can use their smart phones or tablet computers to fill out survey or other forms. Of course, we have a screen in front of the computer room. They can watch videos on the computer. Nowadays, they do a lot of things on their smart phones. Students will do field trips themselves.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In this project, they have done two times of summit conferences with Korean and Dannish students. They introduce Green Technology in Taiwan, just like Green ambassadors for Taiwan.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our project did make a difference. Students learn from knowing nothing about Green technology to telling international students about Green Technology in summit conferences. Some of the students don't speak English at all. In the end of the project, they dare to speak up in front of a crowd of people with confidence and fluently. People in our community also learn from my students project. They will try to find better way to save th earth to overcome climate change. My students form an international community with Dannish, Korean and also Indian students. They discuss topics about Green Technology. Students really open their eyes about learning with others and in this way they can deepen their language learning into a high and advanced leve. This project did help them a lot.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Students' parents or other teachers in our school observed students' summit conference so they also learn with our students.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

This project helps students do very well in presentation on Green technology with Korean, Dannish students. They will collaborate with Indian students in the future. They are really excited to know more about it with Indian students.
