Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

The people of Lanzhou like the delicious food, especially hot and sour food, they show special preference to Sichuan cuisine and Hot pot, but wheaten foods are the most favorite of Lanzhou people. Lanzhou people like to eat noodles, there are minced noodles, braised noodles with lentil, Jiangshui Noodle, Buckwheat noodles or bean food in Lanzhou, of cause, Lanzhou beef noodle is also a well-known characteristic Lanzhou dish.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through this activity, we were surprised that there were so many cultures about snacks!

There is only one computer classroom in our school that includes 30 computers.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Although snacks are everywhere, but many businesses do not let us take pictures, so many snacks were cooked by parents, but some snacks can not do at home, the teacher invited us to eat! Although everyone can only eat one kind of snacks, we felt that was still a cushy job!

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Through continuous interview, we know a lot of Lanzhou food culture, enhance our personal communication ability; through the Webpage production, mastered many computer operation technologies. A particularly want to say is: We several students have learned several snacks practices! Welcome to our home to taste!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In the information technology lesson, we take the time to collate information, making Webpage; in the language class, we learn the method of writing to the teacher; in history class, we ask teachers Lanzhou diet history. In the teacher's guidance, we have overcome numerous difficulties and successfully completed the Webpage production.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Hardware: computer, digital camera Software: Microsoft Word, MEITU XIUXIU, CISS Website Platform

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We visited the snack Club in Xigu City, snacks Street in Dazhong Lane, snacks Street in Zhengning road and the Food stores surrounding us, we ate Food, listened the shop or stall owner to tell us about the origin, the legend and practices of snacks, and thanks to them who put our dietary culture in Lanzhou down.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Through the interview and propaganda of us, our friends all know that these Foods we usually eat have so many connotations, and everyone has a deeper understanding on the diet history and diet culture Lanzhou in particular.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

This activity get the support of the leaders, all the teachers and students in the school, and some pictures we can not collected, students were actively come to us and said their parents can make it, they were rushing to pull us to collect photos at their home after school, of course we also tasted it. Teachers also took the initiative to find us, told us about their childhood Food and some Food legends. Thank them!

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

When the teacher told us that he hoped we can participate in the Webpage contest, we all surprised! Actually let us make Webpage, and the teacher said that he also can not make it, nobody can teach us, so we only learnt with the teacher, and then made the webpage by ourselves! We were not confident, can we do? When the teacher said: 'never mind, as long as you work hard to do, whether we are win or lose, we benefit a lot even if finally we do not complete it!' We all laughed! Yeah, not bad! After more than a month of hard work, we can successfully make Webpage content and carry out a simple picture processing from a stranger, it is really not easy, but we are successful, we finished Webpage! It really is 'if you put your heart into it'!
