Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Wuwei Roche temple is the only Buddhism temple which is named after founder Luoshi, it is the Buddhist pilgrimage with great significance and far-reaching influence in the history of the development of Buddhism in China, at the same time, and it is the important historical relic for the development of Wuliang culture.

2. Summary of Our Project

Kumarajiva temple is located at the No 66 North Street of Lianzhou District, founded in the Houlian period of Eastern Jin Dynasty. Kumarajiva temple is the 17th place that Chinese Sutra translator Kumarajiva had ever gone, and it has more than 1600 years of history. Our special research topics are mainly on Kumarajiva temple, to study temple history, attractions, and near the major events and art research. From this study plan, we can feel the importance of the 'group' and the centripetal force. In the production process, the teacher Zhang from town and talent Company and technical personnel gave a lot of help, so our work can be completed so smoothly. We hope the Buddhist people from the world can know more about Kumarajiva Temple through our webpage; and I also hope that those who do not understand the Kumarajiva temple can have preliminary concept.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Our school access internet with fiber, speed is 4M. We can search information on line, but the computer’s configuration and speed is low.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

This is the second time for us to participate in Cyberfair, we only got the prize for excellence in the last time. The time is limited. The teachers are less than the students, the teachers have a lot of teaching tasks, and students also have a lot of homework, so there is a little time to take part in the activity, so we have to sacrifice lunch break to go to work in computer room, it is really very tired. The instructor and the players are not familiar with the Webpage, thanks to the technical staff of town and talent company, we can not complete the work on time if they did not offer Webpage template customization for us. Secondly, computer software and hardware equipments in the school are old, and the speed of the computer is very slow with 512M. So without the help of the teachers and players, we can not complete the work in this case, we are very proud of it, because it is unforgettable for us whether if we can win or not.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We benefit a lot from Cyberfire this year. We not only have a better understanding of the hometown history, but also enhance everyone's feelings. This activity lets us learn to trust and communication, and we also understand humility, pay and Thanksgiving. Although the research process is hard, “no pains, no gains”, I hope we can share with you the results!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We decided the Kumarajiva temple as our theme this time, not only combined Chinese, history, geography, computer, arts and humanities disciplines, but also combined with community resources. Through finding information, we knew that we should learn to care others in addition to knowledge and examination results on the books. This study, although the school offers little assistance, student academic pressure is also quite heavy, we and the teachers finished the work in the holiday and lunch break, although we were very tired, we were very happy and fulfilling, because we had a dream of our own. This study is different with the study in the classroom, we learned how to search information, how to make an interview and how to organize data, these capabilities will accompany us, and become lifelong skills.
