Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Lueyang county is located at the southwestern of Shaanxi province, the southern foot of Qinling Mountain, the western margin of Hanzhong basin, in the juncture of Shaanxi, Gansu and Sichuang. Guanguan tea is the legacy of the ancient Qiang nationality. The geographical distribution of Lueyang tea is extremely strong.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through repeatedly visiting the local residents, we have a deeper understanding of the tea culture in our hometown, understanding the historical heritage of tea in Lueyang county, at the same time, we also truly feel the fire, that hint of fragrance, and the deeper meaning of a pot of tea... Through this activity, we harvest a lot.

Our school internet conditions are good, and there is a computer room with more than 30 computers. There are also 5 computers in the two teacher's office, network condition is good in school, and the internet speed is also fast. Because the student's home can not access to the Internet, so, under the guidance of the teacher, they finished the work with the computer in the teachers' office in their spare time.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1\Difficult:For the first, we don’t know where to start? Solution:Consult tutors and gather to discuss, understand our task and how to go about it. Thoughts:Ask when we don’t know. Strength in numbers, tow heads are better than one 2\Difficult:Less familiar with computer skill and software Solution:We spend a lot of time to practice and master the skills of editing text on the page, cropping images and uploading websites with the guidance of tachers Thoughts:Getting really good at computer skills is a matter of taking great efforts 3\Difficult:Our outdoor activities were affected by bad weather Solution:Select weather suitable to go visit at the two-day weekends Thoughts:Make careful arrangements, expect and react to change

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Lueyang tea is one of our unique characteristic diet, although it is not well known, it is unique. It represents the geographical characteristics, reflecting the history and culture of hometown. We have a deeper understanding of Lueyang tea than others while we finished the work, its production method, variety, taste, eat, even a simple tea pot, have impressed us. My hometown is great, the traditional home bred Food is unique, and in addition to the tea, there are many foods worth us to study. We think this is not only a competition, but also a cultural transmission and inheritance.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In the process of taking photos, we learned how to use a DSLR camera. In image processing, we discovered that there were so much original PS software, Photoshop was too professional, it was not easy to master it, and it seemed that all the members learned many ways to cut the pictures, such as cutting the screen with some chat software, computer with the drawing software unexpectedly can also cut simple picture. We also learned how to use the Ctrl+Z key, it can get the information that you deleted careless.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

From determining the theme to complete works, we visited several villagers and the parents of the students, and visiting the people in different ages. When we expressed that we wanted to understand tea, they all showed a positive attitude. Some young people showed great interest when we said we will make a website about guanguan tea.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We have visited many villagers, the matter does have some effects in some villagers’ mind, and nobody will care about the local thing that looks very ordinary. When we were asking, writing and taking a picture, some people were very excited, because they thought the guanguan tea of them would be reported. We carried out publicity for the students while we were make webpage, this is our unique traditional Food, and we hope that we can remember and hand down.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

In the data collection process, we several people's strength was not enough. We launched a large number of students go home to know guanguan tea. We went to visit when we knew that some students’ tea was very famous. Other teachers who did not participate in this activity also took the initiative to help when they heard our activities, such as the history teacher was very positive to lend his SLR camera, and the other teachers gave us a lot of suggestions. Thank them for their help!
