2. Summary of Our Project

Baguio City, also known as the City of Pines, is well-known for celebrating the Flower Festival,'Panagbenga' annually, wherein the citizens enjoy various activities for the entire month of February extending up to the first week of March. 'Panagbenga' showcases the intricate culture of the city. The flowers are the main attraction, although we want to go deeper and open the elegance and artistry of what the Flower festival has to offer. The music is a game changer and such beauty makes the festival bloom even better. The culture expresses the grace of how it is celebrated. May it be modern or traditional the Flower Festival truly carries a complex yet a exquisite structure. One of our team’s objectives is to maximize our skills in order to show our festival. With the emerging technology in our modern day-era, students can engage and unite themselves to create a webpage visible to the mass. Unmasking the festival is our main objective because it is the product of all the labor of the initiator and the local government bearing the foundation of the festival. As the team explores the city, we are open to information, maximizing our time in order to create a product entry unveiling the true grace and beauty of the Flower Festival, called 'Panagbenga'.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

One of the difficulties the team had encountered is the lack of time, particularly in gathering information and creating the webpage. Time has been very limited for us because of our schedule of activities. Due to abundant school work, time was crucial and was really challenging to compress our energy for different events and school related requirements. As a solution to this problem, we worked overtime; we spent all our extra time working on this activity in hopes of finishing it before due is up. Another problem we observed was the lack of cooperation and effort from some of the members of our team. To try to balance the work, we decided to distribute the obligations to each member of our body, which encouraged everyone to do their duties. Internet connection was fair although it is badly needed and because the school doesn't guarantee a really fast connection, we need to be patient of what we had. In a number of 40 students using the internet , we had to give way to each other in order to use it efficiently. Since the team's population is too big, we tend to misunderstand each other resulting in an unorganized method of creating our entry.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

It has been a privilege to represent Saint Louis University Laboratory High School because out of all the students, we have been chosen although it's not just about recognition but about team spirit. The forbidding chain of events and the limited pace of time has made us challenge ourselves to be self-directed and socially involved students.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This International Schools Cyberfair project has been a great deal in the improvement of the quality and effort that we, as students, and individuals of our age are subjected to. It was a challenge to put our skills and capabilities to the test in order for us to be able to come up with a more informative and creative output. The International Cyberfair has provided us with an experience where in we are encouraged to do our best and cooperate as a team that strives to bring out the best in each other. It has also served as a way to be able to show what each of us are capable of doing, through the cyberfair, we learned that in order for our endeavors to become a success, we need to be able to acknowledge the importance and sustain the value of each individual, we learned the value of teamwork and sought to find help in the spirit of others. Through the course and the making of our Cyberfair entry, our potential as a whole was defined. Our ability to learn from our faults and simply to move to make them better. It has taught us that we are all important and each one's participation is a valuable factor that affects our team. The use of technology has proven to become an important part of our research that starts from the build up of information we used, its convenience has helped us know more about our project and it also helped us communicate with each other faster. This International Cyberfair has served a great deal in the betterment and success of each of us and has helped us excel in the subject matter that involves itself with.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We used the following equipment and programs: A) Laptop -We used this for making the documents, editing photos, saving files and also making the webpage. A1) Microsoft Word 2013 -This was used for creating the articles/documents. A2)Photoshop Creative Suite 6 -We used this for editing the images, and making the website wallpaper and banner. A3)Sony Vega pro 13 -This was used for editing the videos, including the interview s and others. A4)Note ++ -This was used for constructing the webpage. A5)Google Chrome -This was used for browsing, and uploading files. A6)Mozilla Firefox -We used this as our host and site tester B)DSLR (digital single-lens reflex camera) - establish a well-formed gallery of pictures, as well as high resolution videos of the interviews. C) Mobile Wifi -We used this as a portable source for the internet. D)Voice Recorder -We used this for recording the interviews. E)Mobile Phone -This is our primary means of communication.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

As spokespersons, we were the ones who did the field work, such as the gathering of data. We did not rely on outside sources for data such as the pictures for the various events. We sent letters and conversed with several founders / pioneers of the flower festival. Our questions were thoroughly answered and we also paved a way for us to gather information.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our project has not only introduced Panagbenga, but also provided in depth information about the festival. It also helps Panagbenga, which has a nationwide recognition, gain more attention from different parts of the country as it promotes the events, and the history of the festival. It gives light to topics such as the history and forefathers, as many people, even the locals, don’t even know how and who started the festival. It encourages the people to visit our city and to learn more about our culture while they experience the beauty and the excitement of the celebration.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Our project involved other members of our community in terms of helping us promote our city's culture. People often see the Flower Festival as just another typical celebration. Through the persons that we have approached and interviewed,it made us go into to depth of what Panagbenga truly is about. The general knowledge of the mass was limited, and because of the people that gave us their statements , it was expounded and there more things to know. It was difficult contacting people from the different parts of the city, although through the support of our school ,our parents, and also the effort of our own class, it was possible to do so. The number of people we knew were scarce , and by time it grew and information was from second hand sources to first hand sources. People who were a part of festival, gave us credible data to share not only for the sake of this project entry, but also for the whole community.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)
