Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Cheding wetlands located Cheding District Kaohsiung is a freshwater wetlands Cheding wetlands former Bamboo Shanghai Salt evaporation pond,but because of building the ocean fishing port so it has been repeal,located at Northwest of city,have perched hundreds of birds,in these years,there have more and more Black-faced Spoonbills come for Winter,the quantity keep rising.

2. Summary of Our Project

The building of 1-4 road,Black-faced Spoonbills and the birds in Kaohsiung Cheding wetlands are facing serious persecution,and the survey of the protecting side, hoping to save the wetlands is our main theme. We separate the researching into five the steps: 1. Collection of the information : Searching of the related information and news,quote or consult the appropriate information for our article. 2. Field survey : Visiting Cheding for observing the birds ,and interviewing the resident’s and scholar’s thoughts about the building of the road,taking opinions from both sides, saving the road or wetlands. 3. Questionnaire survey : Granted the questionnaire from areas around our school and Cheding district asking how did people thought about the building of 1-4 road. 4. Attaching the information and team discussion : Attaching the information?the conclude a result,and assisting the teachers to finish the file by team discussion. 5. Work building : Layout setting?Plan the main title?Put all the information in?Works completed.

We use the school's computer room to query data, group discussions and create web pages. These are the Internet equipment we use. 1 Internet browsers: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer search information 2. Mapping Software: SketchBook 3. Contact tools: Facebook, Line, SMS, Google Gmail 4. Word Processing: Microsoft Word 2003,2007,2010,2013 5. Website Design: 6. Data storage: flash drive, Gmail, Line, Facebook community 7. Other:Camera,printer.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The problems we encountered in the process of researching and solutions of them 1. Progress:Because of the huge amount of our school assignments,we were afraid of not finishing this project in time. Solution:Making a perfect time management helped us get through this issue. 2. Computer technology:Not knowing the skills of how to set up a website. Solution:Asked our teacher for help and checked up tips from books to set up by ourselves. 3. Time:It is difficult for us to arrange available time getting together and discussing project . Solution:Dividing into groups first,and then check everyone’s schedule to set a day for all of us to file up our works. 4. Groups discussion:Sometime we disagreed with each other. Solution:We decided things by voting .Each group will discuss to choose the best project.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Conservation is the most important concept of the twenty-first century, hoped that through the study of this plan, the local People's wake priority to ecological conservation.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Which content standards did your Cyberfair project address? Ans:Make students have more activity participation experiences and widened knowledges. 2.How did this project fit into your required school, district, or state curriculum guidelines? Ans:Letting teachers to get more teaching experiences from making website. 3.What skills did we learn? Ans: Teamwork? Arrange the data?Field research?Web design 4.What concepts of teamwork did we practice? Ans: Group discussion?Teamwork 5.How did this subject combine with our school requirement? Ans:Our school provided our relevant information and equipment. 6.Are online learning more efficiency than traditional way? Ans:Yes,we can find the data more quickly and it is more convenientthan the traditional method of sitting in the classroom. Our production speed is faster.And there are also a lot of rich content we can reference on the Internet.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Which information or technology did we use to finish our project? 1. (1)Q:How did the aforementioned information and technology help us? A: Smartphone and social communities helped us to contact with the responders immediately plus enabling the members to communicate with each other, moreover, camera and tape recorder helped us record the recent interview contents and the conditions of investigations very detailed. Likewise, we also used computer software, news reports, questionnaire and explored by ourselves to make us discover the information, so as when collecting resources for the web page. (2.) Q: Where we get the above stuffs? A: It was made or provided by the crew members and the guide teacher (3.) Q:What is the most useful tool to us?why? A: Site inspection. Site inspection didn’t only let us gain more information which couldn’t be found on the internet but also expressing our different ideas and opinions. We certainly learned a lot after visiting every single time though. (4.) Q: What kinds of tech. is the most useful?Why? A: Social media. We found it very convenient to contact with each other. Thus , we shared and stored the information, also discussed by it. It really helped us a lot.?

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In this research project, we site interviewed the residents of Qieding. As the members’ free time couldn’t match up with each other, it was always delated to the progress and schedule, but we still cherished every interviewing experiences and the result had always met our expectations. We put a lot of efforts and take the responsibility of being the local community ambassadors to complete the mission. When every time we visited Qieding to look up the wetland, we saw different species of bird, yet, our heart was broken when we heard that people are going to destruct their habitat. It totally inspired us to protect them, so we interviewed the one who supposes to preserve the wetland. In the other hand, we also asked opinions of whose stands for the No.1-4 road. The reason not building the road is that it will effect and ruin the perfect habitat. The reason why they insist to open it up is due to their hope to increase the prosperity and more convenient traffic for the residents. We can see they have their own reason but how can we achieve the win-win, not only protect the birds but increase the prosperity and residents’ convenient is the most worthy discussion and the issue to reflect.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

(1)Q: How does our project research change our surroundings? A: It arose our awareness of environment protection, learning more knowledge of founding the webpage such as uses of variety of software and add lots of ideas and joys from the experience of site interviewing. (2) Q: Can local people learned new things from our web page? A: Making people to understand more about birds’ ecology, and waken up people’s environmental protection awareness. (3)Q: Can other people from all around the world have new knowing from our web page? A: Other people from all around the world can understand more from our web page and our Facebook page “Saving Black-faced spoonbills on the go.” (4)Q: Have we built out the relationship with the local people? A: Although our visiting wasn’t so long, not enough to have great relationship, but we let them know there is a group discussing this plan. (5)Q: How many people have been to our web page? What comments did we get in return? A: Our web page were only done for a short time, so the return wasn’t that much, but we still advertised hard , and there are many people supporting us , we will keep working on it. (6)Q: How many people did the discussing plan helped before? A: By the setting of our web page, it has helped many people understand the birds’ ecology, and also let people know that there is also Black-faced spoonbills in Kaohsiung and how much the plan of building roads affected.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Cheting district in the city wasn’t known by many people, and the people who knows black-faced spoonbills is fewer, when we are having a questionnaire, these activities, these problems are easy to be seen, but we let more people realized the cheting wetlands by these activities , and let people have more environmental protection, these made us really gratified. We chose the main title “Saving Black-faced spoonbills on the go” is because want to save the Black-faced spoonbills in the wetlands and the local birds from the roads building. For saving these wetlands ecology, we visit many people and get many information, it really help us a lot, hope we can let people realized how important the wetlands is, know Cheting and wake the environmental up to protection awareness.
