We believe that we can continue the rich traditions of Maliu embroidery through our effort, let us take action to call on more people to protect it, pass it down, and give one’s contribution to the hometown.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We actively encouraged students to use their spare time to participate in social practical activities for their all-round development. The purpose of participating in DigiChina was mainly to make students combining the knowledge they have learned at school and practice, with extracurricular comprehensive practice activities, opening their mind. We were students majoring in computers, participating in webpage project research activity, did not only make us master the computer knowledge, but also exercised our social practice ability. It was very happy that with the experience and exercise of this activity, whether the social intercourse ability, thinking and moral quality, or student mastery of knowledge, had been enhanced a lot. Although we came across some difficulties, but we learnt unknown knowledge in the past, with investigation, research, interviews and, reading network resources, we strengthened the understanding of embroidery as a cultural heritage, and called on people to protect it without allowing it slowly to disappear in silence. In a word, inquiry learning activity made us have a deep understanding of the embroidery culture around us.

In the process of our research, we visited and interviewed several successors of Maliu embroidery, we first illustrated to them our research plans of DigiChina through our instructor, during the interviews, they were very serious, in the case that our first interview data was not enough, they arranged time in their busy schedule for us to conduct the second interview, which made us very moved. Then we visited the experts at local cultural center, they provided us with valuable information and photos. We also interviewed the related department of local township government to understand the government protection planning of Maliu embroidery. In addition, we also learned that the local schools were carrying out this local characteristic course with the purpose to convey this traditional culture to more people. The most important thing was that we wanted people to attach importance to this traditional art, let Maliu embroidery never be lost, let this national intangible cultural heritage to grow stronger and stronger here.

Let more people pay attention to it.

At the same time, we also wanted to thank our teacher, giving us patient guidance.
