2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.
Because of this project, we visited the farmers' orchands for getting some information about it. It took too long to get to Dashe, also, our members' available time couldn't be matched. So, we often delayed the schedule and so on ... But, we still keep 'Being a good local-promoting ambassador' in mind, doing our best to complete this task. When we visited farmer's farm, what we saw is that though he was busy harvesting the fruit, he still stopped to answer our questions. After the end of the interview, he was so friendly that he even sent us some dates. What's more, we had tried to contact the one of the staffs in Dashe Famer's cooperative _ Ms. Cheng Zhuo Yi. Though there was no great choice for us to meet her in person, we had a short conversation with her by talking on the phone. It was such a good time! It's our honor to be the ambassadors of promoting the local culture in Taiwan. We sincerely hope that the treasures of Dashe and Dashe could be known by more people in Taiwan or even in the whole world! After finishing our schedule, we think receiving some advices and encouragement would be strength for us to take another task in the future!
3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?
a. All we aware that the experiences, like group discussion and idea sharing, are quite important. b. A lot of skills of making home-page and writing software were learned during the team work. c. Everyone enjoyed the field study , and had a fun of meeting local people. 2.We abandon traditional mass media, such as printing and advertising. It is believed that Internet is a much better replacement. No matter where they are, people could easily reach Dashe local industry, and catch more information about it. 3.Let the local people have a better chance understanding their homeland generate recognition. 4.People around the world can learn on this web page, 'The Treasures of Dashe', and sightseeing visit to this place, not only to expand the sales of agricultural products, but also to improve the economy of the region. 5.Because the interview didn’t take a lot of time , so we can’t build a closed relationship with local people , but thanks to their enthusiastic assistance 6.Because the Web was not done for a long time, not many people viewed this web page.So there isn’t much reverberation. 7. With the completion of the web page, we hope to increase the public to “The Treasures of Dashe” awareness , improving the sales and the agriculture economy of the region. We are also looking forward to promote “ The Treasure of Dashe” and the enthusiastic spirit of the farmers.
4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
The Jujube Grove We visited a diligent farmer, Shei, Jinlon, with ten years experience of jujube planting. We coincidently catches up the harvest season, so he kindly guided us through his grove and explain tricks identifying tasty jujubes. We really felt a true nature and explicitly from a farmer during this visit.
The Dairy Farm Mr Hsu Quanshin, a member of the prominent family of Hsu Sanyi, was the ex-CEO of the Farmer Association. His farm is at ShenNon village, not far from Huanchu. In the past, dairy product is luxurious and the market was relatively small. Several farmers have been working hard for decades to overcome various challenges and survive is never an easy thing. Dairy product without any pollution from this area make the best source of calcium for people.
The Guava Grove Since knowing some friends growing guava, we had the opportunity to visit a guava grove. The owner of the grove showed his enthusiasm in his tour guiding about planting guava. Even though we did not fully understand his interpretation in local Taiwanese language, we still could fell vividly his passion of taking very good care of his guava babies.
We like to express our appreciation to Ms Jou YiHwa for her coordination to our visit. According to her statement, many modern farms around Kaohsiung and Pindun area have been established by the government. All improved techniques regarding aforementioned produces is charged by Kaohsiung Improving Agricultural Farm
5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)
When we are doing this project , in fact, there are a lot of people do not know Dashe , people who know the place can't help but say; 'Are you the people from Kaohsiung? ' While living in Kaohsiung , but do not know what the hometown have it's a little bit wear, however after the event ,those who don't know Dashe can know Dashe, and people who had already know Dashe can know more. As the theme we have chosen is ' Let’s find dates, guavas and milk ' , as students we are not quite understand about agriculture , through this opportunity , asking a lot of experts , and we learned a lot which textbooks did not told us. Site visits, interviews , and saw lots of neglected beauty. Making this web page can make people more clearly understand about the beauty of Taiwan's countryside . After this project , we learned a lot , with aggregate data from the prototype it also difficult to complete with team members, for example: some data couldn't find , on-site visit time some members can not tie , layout unable to reach a consensus , but because , through our discussions with the inclusion, in order to have today's achievements , saying: 'Do not fall in the pit , not a lesson .' surely this is the truth, though hard process , but everything is worth it.
