1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?
We set up our club page on Facebook with the reminders of schedule planning and important itineraries. At the same time, we had a private workshop website that allows us to organize and sort literature and photos. We also made use of Feedback function for discussion. Because we had huge data, we used cloud drive for data access.
From National Central Library, we collected various literatures. The databanks helped us to find useful information in many books.
When conducting on-site visits to the factories, we used camera to record the authentic records of factories. During interviews, we used the built-in voice recording function of cell phone of our member. During the guide tour, we videotaped the whole process.
When constructing the website, we used Notepad++ for editing and FileZilla for uploading web contents; for images, we used WindowsLive Image Center and IrfanView. Additionally, we used AdobeIllustrator for map drawing. Some parts were drew by hand first before scanning to the computer.
2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.
First of all, what satisfied us the most is although we were overloaded, yet we persisted to complete the work and present the results to everyone. Some members even believe that is the distinct difference between senior high school and junior high school. Joining the Cyber Fair, we had a new breakthrough. We have more confidence in ourselves and we have improved research skills greatly.
We now care more about the local history and culture and we have better abilities to think critically about the pros and cons of each preservation method. We were able to speak out at group meetings as well as those with local residents and the public sector and we did not passively receive information.
We tried very hard to overcome various challenges and now we have earned the praises from strangers and teachers. These are very valuable to use. Our team cooperation is the essential key to success.
3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?
The research on the industrial heritage helped our community to know the development history of the city that we are living in and to understand deeply about the development features of each stage. We believed that with this website, Taipei's features will be known to others. People will know Taipei better through the indicator industrial heritage of Taipei's history. Then the passion for Taipei and Taiwan's history will be inspired. Many people were pleased to see our passion towards cultural asset preservation, but at the same time, they were concerned about the youth now does not care about historical issues. We were all touched at the bottom of our heart.
4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
Through the guide tour, personal contact with the PR department, and participation in activities (such as the Seminar on Urban Renewal), we had the chances to meet old employees, current managers, and experts and volunteers of cultural asset protection. Fortunately, the grandfather of one of our classmates was the former Director of one of the factories. We used the name cards made by ourselves to contact and exchange information with others.
