Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Hemei is a small town in north Changhua, and it is one of the earliest developed towns in Taiwan. Our ancestors came here 300 years ago, so that today's Hemei becomes the economic center of Changhua County. In 1992, TFCF moved to the Mrs. Song-chou Xu children's museum, and established the Child Development Center in 1993 to help the disadvantaged and children. Hemei became the town of “peace” and 'love'! http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/vision.html

2. Summary of Our Project

Taiwan Fund for Children and Families is a well-known social welfare organizations, but very few people know its Child Development Center, so He-Ren loving angels explore this center located in Hemei, Changhua. The Child Development Center takes care of children under 12 years old who have delays or disabilities. We call these children as slow-flying angels. These angels cannot receive education with healthy children of the same age, or even cannot take care of themselves, so they are most in need of care and help in the growth process. http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/company.html

5. Our Project Sound Bite

•Through the opportunity of Cyberfair, we were be able to visit the Child Development Center and get to know these slow-flying angels. Their growth path was more difficult than ordinary people. I saw a totally different world. They long for people’s understanding, not mercy. •Our resources are limited, but our love is endless. We served as good local ambassadors, and introduced these forgotten slow-flying angels to the public, in order to help them more. http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/jobs_1_1.html

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Fly ! Slow-flying Angels - the miracle of love is all in the Child Development Center – the theme aims at caring for the community and helping the children, so the main objectives of our projects are 'life education ', 'character education' and 'community care.' Hope that students will love and care for slow-flying angels (under 12 years old) with disabilities and developmental delays with active, positive, and enthusiastic attitude, to raise funds for education and learning , living supplies, and medical rehabilitation. Furthermore, we like to add humane care in Taiwan Cyberfair 2013 to inject new energy, and spread love from the He-ren Elementary School ! http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/product_2.html

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

The key learning is 'Information Education.” In the software part, we searched data over the Internet, recorded work progress, using software to create web pages, animation, film processing , and photo images ....... In terms of hardware, we also learned a lot of technology products such as digital cameras, scanners, voice recorder, drawing board, etc. Our capabilities of information technology have greatly improved. We learn a lot in software and hardware! http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/web2013tw/profile3.html

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Howe did we play the role of “local ambassadors”? •Made all kinds of posters to introduce the Child Development Center, slow-flying angels, and other promotional activities •Went to each class to Introduce to the Child Development Center, slow-flying angels, and other promotional activities • Held the flea market and donations to raise money, and helping them with actions •Initiated Invoice-raising activity •Introduced our project in the community and raised invoices and sale items •Sent love to the Child Development Center •Built a Facebook fan page to promote the development of the Child Development Center, seeking additional resources to join sponsorship http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/product_3_1.html

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Through this project, we initiated campus tour and organized charity events like invoice-raising activity, flea market and lantern charity event. This love spread around on campus. Everyone in our school participated in this meaningful project. The outcome of this project influences people and nourishes our heart with love. http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/product_1.html

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

•Through the opportunity of Cyberfair, we were be able to visit the Child Development Center and get to know these slow-flying angels. Their growth path was more difficult than ordinary people. I saw a totally different world. They long for people’s understanding, not mercy. •Our resources are limited, but our love is endless. We served as good local ambassadors, and introduced these forgotten slow-flying angels to the public, in order to help them more. http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/news_1.html

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

The Child Development Center has a dedicated service team to provide these slow-flying angels who need early intervention, to timely help their families and their loved ones through the low period of life, to feel the warmth of the community, and to look on the bright side. During interacting with them, we found that care and learning need great love and patience, and how to care for them is a specific knowledge for us to learn. Even those ordinary body movements, teachers had to teach with experiences and skills. The families of slow-flying angels also need these skills to ease the burden. We urge people to treat them with a different attitude, and to create a more favorable environment. http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2014/gsh7807/product_3_1_1_1.html
