Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

By our vigorous publicity to the people in the community, and several speeches that smoking is harmful to health, most people in our community realized the dangers of smoking, and the students of our school also had deep sentiments.

2. Summary of Our Project

In this activity, our deepest feeling is that people learned a lot more about the dangers of smoking. Now our nation attaches importance to this problem of smoking. For this purpose, our nation makes rules, such as, “No Tobacco Day”, “No Smoking in Public Places”. Through this internetwork exposition, we wish more people to separate themselves from the group of smokers, and let our society be a smoking-free society. What is more,in this activity, I learned how to dominate the time properly. Because I still need to study conscientiously, while I join in this activity. If I can’t properly dominate the time, I would be bothered about it. In fact, if we want to do more than others, we must spend more time to make ourselves more excellent. The more we pay, the more we will gain. In our life, the payment is be proportional to the target.

Atpresent,our school accesses to the Internet by the dial-up of China telecom with the 10 MB speed. There are 30 computers for the students to surf the internet in the computer classroom at any time. There are computers to surf the internet in every office and functional department at any time. On the accessing the documents, the school network management center provides an Inspur server as the saving space of students’ materials and webpages. The four classmates of our team have computers in their house, and also can surf the internet. Therefore, the classmates can search the internet in the school, besides that, they can also surf the internet to search the material at home.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Problems Contents Solution the time of the students and interviewees can not match Although all the classmates like the interview work, but the time of having class and interviewing often conflicts. So our teacher puts most of the interviewing time on the holidays to do. Sometimes the teacher visits and records alone. safety problem The outgoing safety of the students is important in the project. However, the time of the interview is temporarily decided, so the interview is canceled, due to the temporary safety factors. In this respect, the school leaders gave us great help, leaders often send us a car to take us to the place where we wanted to visit. We would also set out the interview plan as early as possible,anddetermine the interview time in advance. The different cognition from the students and teachers on the project Although all of our classmates are very interested in participating in research, but sorting material and typing of interview content are drudgeries, they seemto lack interest. We talk with the students in detail,and state the subsequent materials sorting and and explanation in the research courseprocessing, which is one of the most important part of the research process. The urgency of the webpage establishment In the earlier stage, it took most of time to sort the materials, so it was very urgent in post production. We invited the professional producerto help us solve the problems. The cooperation with the teaching of our school still need to reinforce. Because the school tightens up on the teaching of teachers and students,in post production, the time of the webpage establishment was often occupied by other activities. Students and teachers complained about it. After actively contactingthe director, the vice President, we persuaded him to arrange unnecessary activities and work to as few as possible, finally we have a guarantee on time.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

By this activity, our team not only increased the knowledge, but also learned much knowledge that is not in the book. Through visiting and investigation everywhere, we not only widened our view, but also learned to communicate with people. We will engage in more activities like this in future to enhance our ability to adapt the society. Nextly, we wish Qianxiangwancai company could give us more such opportunity.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We often have a meeting to discuss with classmates, let them go to the community to search smokers, and then,we tell them the knowledge on dangers of smoking to the health. Sometimes, we also go to the villagers’ home to research and analyze, and do ideological work. Let them know the function of our this organization.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

1, To increase people cognition on the dangers of smoking to health. 2, Let the people know no smoking in public places. 3, To gradually decrease the amount of smokers in the community. 4, To improve the environment of the community.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

In this project, there were many caring people who gave us quite a few help. We went to the community to do questionnaire for several times, after knowing that, the management committee of the community actively helped us to call up the people in the community. With the help of us, an old man successfully quited smoking. He also helped us do the experience exchangement in the community speech organized by us. In this speech of quiting smoking, this old man was greatly helpful to our research.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

It was the fourth time toparticipate in the internetwork exposition for our school. As the insufficient view and the limited ability, and we were not acquainted with the project, the webpage established by us was not satisfying. But we understood a truth that “nothing is impossible to a willing heart”.
