Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Shangyi is located in the northwestern part of Hebei and west of Zhangjiakou City. East to Zhangbei, south to Wanquan, Shanxitian Town in the southwest. Shangyi county has rich land resources and unique climate, is suitable for high-quality vegetable cultivation and crop nutrient accumulation and quite appropriate for the development of livestock breeding.

2. Summary of Our Project

By investigation of Shangyi Forest Park, we understand more that it is a theme park with cultural history, natural landscape in harmony, the core landmark attraction of ShangYi ecological tourism. Our research projects this time, calls for local people cherish natural resources at home and share more responsibility for environmental protection for the park, at the same time, open a window for all over the world to have knowledge of the natural landscape with the dam characteristics

In the south of the county, there is ShangYi Forest Park with a unique scenery, and magnificent beauty. At the gate, there are six Chinese characters inscribed on the huge stone “ShangYi Forest Park” six. Entering the park, broad Yingbin Avenue leads to the five thousand square meter of Leisure Square and rockery waterfall. Which makes you feel extremely open-minded. Though this is an unknown place, but it full of temptation and magic, winter goes and spring comes, year after year, further implementation of the national projects of returning farmland to forest and grass, increasing grass coverage year by year, increasing environmental quality, by experience the close contact with nature, it does not only increase knowledge which is not in the textbooks, but also improve our comprehensive ability of our social practice. It makes us to be strong and know how to respect others.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

This is the first time that the teacher have recommended us to participate in web page making activity, at first, the three of us feel flattered with contradictions, because the concept of webpage is a bit strange for us. Under the leading and guidance of the teacher, we start our bold attempt with a keen interest and learning attitude. With about forty days’ efforts, we successfully complete the web pages. Taking part in the activity, we carry out several on site trips, exercising our ability, cultivating us the method to explore knowledge, making us to attempt to learn bravely, also making us realizing the importance of team work. What is more important is to make us, rural students become confident.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

year after year, further implementation of the national projects of returning farmland to forest and grass, increasing grass coverage year by year, increasing environmental quality, by experience the close contact with nature, it does not only increase knowledge which is not in the textbooks, but also improve our comprehensive ability of our social practice. It makes us to be strong and know how to respect others.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Our research this time, is mainly in the form of specific practices, such as interview, investigation, and taking photos, collecting information of forest park, etc., which not only use the knowledge we have learned , but also involves courses in “character and society” and computer courses opened in our school. Through this practice, it cultivates our observation and practice ability, lays a foundation for our curriculum diversification, and provides enough local material for our school with a good teaching material for school-based courses.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through our investigation, exploration practice, promoting to the world, the green ecology in our ShangYi Forest Park has been in the sun path of science development. At the same time, it makes outsiders to understand ShangYi County, which is a forest city with deep history culture and strong modern civilization.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

During the making of web pages, we have several on-the-spot investigations, which enable many people who don't know ShangYi Forest Park to know more about this place, make the people nearby cherish this beautiful environment, improving their spiritual life to a higher level. Forest park administrator thank grandpa and grandma to guide us to visit the various attractions, tells us scenic spots introduction.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Guide teachers to help us plan, study guide, computer technical guidance, photography, technical guidance, contact interviews, urged progress on a regular basis, the website upload. Thousands of thousands of villages and townships to administrator teacher Zhang Yinghua give technical guidance and help, progress tracking instructions. Others shangyi county tourism, forest park management office, sightseeing visitors with nearby villagers in an interview, providing information and pictures.
