4. Problems We Had To Overcome

I think the monographic study is a challenge for us, at the beginning, I think this topic is similar with other topics we have done, there should be a lot of data, just as we searched for information to be found, although the history of Xiwangmu has been long, it was discovered in recent years, and many are also fairy tales with a wide range, many contents could not be confirmed, need to consult a lot of data, for example, in order to verify the facts, the students also specially consulted 'ShanHaiChing' 'Hanshu • geography' with considerable difficulty. Although we also spent a lot of effort to find information, we felt very value, we knew a lot of things that never knew before, not only know the history of Huangyuan, understanding the KunLun culture deeply, let us feel the national spirit that Chinese people pursuit truth. In addition, in Webpage production process, the biggest problem we encounter is a matter of time, because we had to go to computer room to collate information at noon and delayed morning classes, so some teachers were not satisfied with us, but we will make outstanding achievements to the teachers, we are not fall course.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We have more time and opportunity to contact the computer through taking part in this activity, so the computer application capacity has been greatly improved, and learned Webpage production, made image and simple animation, it makes us more interested in the course, the most important is through this activity, we have a more thorough understanding to historical culture of hometown, we were proud that the hometown had ever been the paradise of ancient Qiang people.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In the classroom teaching, we mainly study some basic knowledge. Through this activity, we learned a lot that never learned on the textbook, we knew some home cultures before, but through this activity, we feel ancient times of the hometown, all in all, we benefit a lot in this activity. The teachers only teach knowledge on textbook in traditional teaching, information is few, and the homework is also only finished on textbook. The network is different, in addition to learn the knowledge on textbook, we can learn more knowledge through the network, see different ways, for example, in history class, the teacher only taught the textbook content, understanding of some historical figures, historical story is less, the textbook knowledge can be extended now through network, learn more about historical figures and historical stories, it makes boring things become interesting.

The school sharing and combination: our research team seeks for help of the teachers and students in grade three, closely integrated with the nine year curriculum, extended to more than 600 teachers and students in the whole school, so that they can understand the culture. We will also make the study content into local materials, to share with everyone. In order to complete this project, it is inevitable to contact with local people and interview, please talk about what kind of way you use to communicate with people, through personal visits, correspondence, telephone or e-mail. We also hope to hear some interesting anecdotes and stories or contact results, for example, whether is there donation or assistance? Are the local people moved on what you have done? What did they say? Most contents are obtained from the Internet in this activity, because it involves a wide range, students find a lot of information on the Internet to enrich Webpage content. This study we did not interview a lot of people, but leaders in County, city and province have done a lot of work and effort in order to turn Xiwangmu culture into brand culture of Huangyuan even Qinghai from searching information. We hope our website can also has a certain degree of publicity on internet.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

First, we would like to thank our two guide teachers – Qi Haiyan and Pu Haiping for their great help in our activity. Every day they would help us not only with designing work like picture processing, website constructing and making, but with meeting, interview and investigation in their lunch break. And we also want to express our gratitude for their generosity in offering us digital cameras and information. In addition, we would like to thank leaders, Teacher Fu and other teachers in our school for their great support. Without their help, we couldn’t finish the activity smoothly. They persuaded our teachers to give us enough time to collect information, conduct investigation and construct website. Moreover, we would like to thank those old men and the aunt from the tourist service center for their cooperation in interview and telling us so many stories and cultural activities. Besides, we feel more grateful to all employees from Qianxiangwancai Company for their help with website construction. Owing to the help from all those people, we could finish the project successfully. Of course, everyone in the team has made essential contribution as well. All people mentioned above have played important roles in today’s achievements.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

After the project, we have learned a lot., we know a lot of knowledge through the network, we are eager to get out of the mountain to go have a look of the outside world. It also exercised our interpersonal skills in data collection, grew a lot of knowledge, and learned computer operation, simple Webpage production, image processing and some ways of digital cameras. We not only know the history of Huangyuan, but also have a more in-depth understanding of the KunLun culture, let us feel the Chinese people in pursuit of truth, unremitting self-improvement of the national spirit. In the research process, we developed mutual cooperation habits when encountered difficulties gradually, know how to appreciate and encourage each other, and the activity can be finished smoothly only through communication. Understand that teamwork is guarantee of project.
