Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Cangxi County is located in the fringe of Sichuan Basin, in the south foot of Big Ba Mountain, in the west of Jianmen Gate, covering East Longitude from 105°43' to 106°28',North Latitude from 31°37' to32°10'. Slightly higher than the territory lying north-east, south-west gradually lower, Cangxi is composed of the hills, river’s valley and flat area. In remote areas, Cangxi is a agriculture-based county in north Sichuan with abundant produce, that include kiwi, snow pear, rice and chuanminshen. The tools in Cangxi develops with development of the society.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through visiting the folk custom culture garden, interviewing farmers and the relevant departments, looking for large amount of data in the library, studying development stage of Cangxi in-depth and implements on the rural economy and society, understanding the causes of change trend of farm tools, we try to implement this small angle to react the development of productive forces, I also want to tell the world friends through this research, Chinese countryside has undergone changes in turn the world upside down. Of course, we also hope that more people pay attention to the rural, agriculture and peasant.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Our school and family are ADSL Internet access, 2 players do not have access to the Internet at home, and 2 Teacher families have access to the internet. The internet speed is fast in student computer room, so most of the contents of Web sites are completed in student computer lab.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We are high school students, not familiar with the Dreameaver Webpage production software, and Webpage production is still relatively unfamiliar. Under the guidance of the teacher, we often ask the teacher. Through more than a month of learning, we use the software more freely. The money is not enough to interview. The school gave us some assistance, the team raised a part, and of course, our process is very frugal. Because we all have heavy learning tasks, so the team activity time is insufficient, we must make full use of the weekend and extracurricular activities time, to arrange the activity plan.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

After thousands of years of development, Cangxi farm tool changes make the local farming gradually turn to the mechanical labor from past human and animal labor, in fact implement changes directly promote the development of agricultural productivity, improve work efficiency, save labor time, at the same time it also produced certain effect on the economic society. If analyzing from the side of tool change, tool change indeed let villagers free out from the heavy agricultural production, produced a surplus labor, and promote the development of other industries, indirectly affect the family livelihood, economic income. Undeniable, changes also affect the village's traditional culture, production and living habits, thinking and behavior concept. In short, tool change is a complex problem, change is both good and bad, only after understanding these effects and problems, suit one's measures to local conditions, and avoid weaknesses, we will get better development.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

My school seriously implements the spirit of quality education, and actively encourage students to participate in social practice in their spare time, to the all-round development of students as the starting point and the foothold, develop practical abilities and a spirit of innovation, establish correct world outlook, outlook on life, values and outlook on talents, to enable students to foster a sense of social responsibility. Therefore, research gives students the opportunity to practice much and using the knowledge, and let students learn something that can not get on the textbook. Let the students become the master of learning. This activity is the best practice for vocational school students, and they are all majoring in computer science, so this kind of practice is never experienced. It is particularly gratifying that through the activities of experience and training, no matter whether it is in the ability of social communication, ideological sense quality, or the students to master the knowledge, have greatly improved than the initial. They are no longer satisfied to go out to look, and more willing to participate in social activities, its achievements are no longer confined to the form of written materials, but pay more attention to social influence. Through this topic research activity, the students have a deeper understanding to the local situation in rural areas, to stimulate their hometown feelings

We take our research results to the relevant government departments, and hope to have some help for their management.

Our material is mainly gotten through visiting and interviewing. Rural elderly provides many tools information and photos to us, also told us the history, implement changes, also made use of live performances of all kinds of tools, government departments also accept our visit, and introduced the current situation of the present agricultural village, the leadership of the school provides many convenience to our research, the students also gave us a lot of support and cooperation. Of course, the teacher also gave us a lot of help.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Implement change indeed let villagers free out from the heavy agricultural production, produced a surplus labor, so they can transfer to other non-agricultural industry, and indirectly affect the family livelihood, economic income. Through our study, we found that implements changes have had a major impact to traditional culture, production and living habits, thinking and behavior concept, and this kind of change is the chain reaction effect, which is a part of system changes, will cause the related part of the whole reaction. Perhaps this is the inexorable rule of social development.
