Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Cangxi is located on the north of Sichuan Basin, on the south of Qinba Mountains, in the middle section of Jialingjiang River, totally covering 2,330 square kilometers. There are 39 towns, comprising of 718 villages, 71 residents' committees and 780,000 people. North of the county is the ancient hometown of the Queen, east is South Banan area, west is the Sword Gate and south is the ancient city Langyuan, overwhelmingly controlling mountains and the important rivers. It has got the fame of “a protecting screen of Sichuan.” There has been over 1,700 years since Tai Kang Emperor in West Jin Dynasty built a county here, which was nicknamed as a fertile place in north Sichuan.

2. Summary of Our Project

By the development of ' Approaching CangXi fire fighting' project activity, it makes us more in-depth understanding of the importance of fire safety, through this project, we feel the importance of fire prevention, call for attention to understand the fire safety hidden trouble in life. Let us all take action, to mobilize the government and the public. Mobilizing all social forces to understand fire control knowledge, let's be a fire advocate to promote the importance of fire safety. Let everyone know fire safety starting from the side and small things. Make everybody realize that safety in the fire, electricity and avoid ahead!

There are two computer rooms in our school, 120 computers can be used. School has a 10M bandwidth of network, every Wednesday and Sunday night for us to use.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Because we can only use spare time to go for interview, and our time is fire fighters’ break. To disturb their resting many times, we thank them here. They take the security of the CangXi people, we see their hard training and frequent task, many times we wouldn’t meet them. In several times’ interview, they were out of task. Some tasks warrior brothers can not be convenient with us, so first-hand information we only got from them. After the text and images taken back in collection, it needs to put them into web page, which is a big problem for us. Most of our teammates were novices in making web pages, so its was quite frustration for us to lay out the webpage. We could only improve by trial and error. Thanks teacher Xu, she teaches us how to make webpage Thanks teacher Deng, she teaches us how to edit image with Photoshop In the process of the late creation, they were always our strong technical support until we finally completed the task.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Schools will take 'western stories' activities as elective courses of high school curriculum, as a comprehensive practical activity, a lesson one afternoon every week to let students make a special trip to participate in the practice and do the credit assessment. Students through practice course train the ability of observation as well as practice, diversifying course to provide the platform for students' ability training. Our school founded 'western story' web page making elective class. Collective activity for the first time, teachers lead team member’s to collect inspirations from outside.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through practice of our investigation to introduce the patron saint of people, and around us a lot of people don't understand the fire safety knowledge, fire brigade brothers also told us some people even can't make alarm call, they hope that through our efforts, more people will know the fire safety and protect themselves.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Through the field investigation, we conducted propaganda leaflets on 11.9 this day in busy section of the county, the school invited the fire brigade to do fire fighting knowledge training project for us, let many students and residents learn about fire safety.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Under the guidance of teacher, we visited and collected material in county fire squadron many times. Fire fighters nicely cooperated with us, and interpreted the fire control knowledge for us.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

When we collect the material, the teacher took us to the relevant areas on field trips many times, which exercise our ability, cultivate us to explore the method of knowledge, make us more bold attempt to learn, more let us these rural children to become confident.
