Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Fuxing Township has a long history. It belonged to Linxi County in Emperor Gong of Western Wei Dynasty. After the foundation of the country, the old system lasts. In October of 1958, Fuxing Township was changed into Fuxing people’s commune. In July of 1983, it was changed into Fuxing Township again. It lies on the western edge of Chengdu Plain and north of Puniang County. It is 21km far away from the county town of Puniang. It spans the flat area of Linxi River and the hilly land of five small and large mountains. Linxi River flows across its territory. The branch canal of Tuanjie weir flows over Fuxing. The irrigation channels in flat area are advanced and water network is fine. The agriculture crops mainly include rice, wheat, corn, pepper, rape and beans. The fruits include kiwi fruit and orange. The fish includes Chinese sturgeon. Kiwi fruit are planted on a large scale and the plant area is over 30,000mu.

2. Summary of Our Project

Firstly, we let the world know our hometown and our life through our web pages. On the same time we tell to the world that our life become better and better. Secondly, we realize the changes of our hometown and strengthen our love towards our hometown through our survey and interview. Thirdly, during the interview and survey and webpage making, training and exercise our courage and improve our operation of computer. Fourthly, enhance the capacity of integrating into the society and writing abilities.

There are one computer classroom and the ten more computers in school

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The study task is hard and our computer operation is limited. We use all spare time to study the computer. The time is tight and the school condition is limited. We are also lack of the experiences of webpage making. So we use CISS tool and test to build the web pages.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We get great support from our school leaders and teachers for this activity. Through our survey and interview we realize the changes of our hometown, strengthen our love towards our hometown, enhance the capacity of integrating into the society and writing abilities and improve our operation of computer. We believe that our life will get better and better.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

There are educations of hometown love in the regular lessons. For that, our DigiChina research project activities have done interview and survey by taking photos and reading materials. In this way, we have collected rich education materials for students to love our hometown. The students are well educated during the DigiChina research project activities.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Kid journalists interview the community residents and leaders and edit the text. The hosts give many good ideas for the healthy life of the community residents, for example reading more good books. Propagandists promote to study planting technology of kiwi fruit, develop economic and construct a beautiful garden city for the community residents.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

A, Let the community residents know the charity program of the western stories. B, Let the community residents know the life of students in school. C, Let the community residents know that planting kiwi fruit brings benefits. E, Raise their brand awareness towards the special industry.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The community leaders warmly receive our interview, supply materials and lead us to have a visit. The community residents speak frankly with our interview and invite us to visit their new houses and experience their new life.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We have realized the beauty of hometown, kind heart and hardworking of people in our hometown and government’s care through the activity. We have done the survey and interview, written text, taken photos and made web pages during the making web pages. In this way, it has enhanced writing abilities and the social communication ability, raise the awareness of teamwork, and improve the love towards the hometown and the resolution of building the hometown. On the other hand, we realize that our knowledge and capability are limited. We should study harder in the future.
