First, we have difficulty communicating with the boss of Rixing, it’s our first time to do such things, we’re afraid that the boss would not accept our requests because he is too busy to deal with the thing not on his schedule. Accidently, the boss responded us with pleasure, we were so happy about that.

Second, our skill in website making is not very good, so we asked our teacher about how to present the most perfect website, we deeply impact on what teacher said.

We successfully solve the two major problem we met, we all impress on how we did, besides, we have more confident doing things in teamwork.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

To be honest, the most thing we recognize in the end of the project is how we worked together, we have known each other for just six months, through doing this project, we knew more about teamwork, and the major thing we figure out is the saying, No pay, no gain. We couldn’t say we are the best, but we do our best to help Rixing let more people notice about both the industry and foundary. We hope we could be the volunteer in the near future. It’s more practical way to help Rixing indeed.

We have an achievement conference in our school to promote Rixing and our website, then our teammates used Facebook to share information about Rixing and our website, many of our friends have a great interest on it, we also had fun telling to others about Rixing, most of our friends hadn’t known Rixing before we introduced to him or her. Also we bring our classmates to Rixing. Therefore, I think many of our friends will go Rixing next time when he or she wants to write a handicraft card or gives an unforgettable gift. Once, we were interviewing the boss of Rixing, he talked a lot about the foundary, but most unforgettable in our mind is that he had an great goal, he don’t want to see the industry died in his hand, so he did all he can did to preserve this tradition invention of China. We are fully touched by the thing he said.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The amount of typing industry is rapidly decline. By the website we made, we can let more people to aware that this is an important industry which came up in Shang Dynasty, this is the most important thing we want to tell others in our website. Moreover, people not living in China seldom hear about the type industry, with the help of our website, they could have a deeply consideration about the industry, they might know lots about Rixing, and we want to make them impressed on our website, and impressed on Rixing.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Owner, Chang Jie-Guan Mr. Chang is the current owner of Ri Xing Type Foundry. It has been more than four decades since Mr. Chang Jie-Guan and his father founded Ri Xing Type Foundry. During that time, Mr. Chang Xi-Ling planned to open a print factory with his friend in Taiyuan nearby Taipei Train Station but due to the delayed printing machinery delivery and other factors, the Type Foundry was opened. With his wife, Chang Lin Chun-Yun, Mr. Chang laid the foundation of his business. The printing machine was delivered one year later but the Type Foundry had been operating stably. Thus, Mr. Chang’s father sold out the printing machine. After finishing serving the military in 1972, Mr. Chang Jie-Guan began devoted to his father’s Type Foundry business. In 1986, along with the introduction of relief press printing, typography printing declined and print foundries in Central and Southern Taiwan were shut down. Till 2007, two of the three surviving print foundries in Taipei City were shut down, only “Ri Xing Type Foundry” is left in the market.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Most from this Cyberfair I learn matters grouped into three major items. A learned the importance of the preservation of traditional crafts Fact, less contact regarding this issue, most just up from the news media covered, but through this Cyberfair, I understand not only maintain a sunset industry how difficult it is, the most important is to learn from the boss who many things attitudes and way of doing things, in fact, Japanese star has been able to survive this, the boss can be said to be withheld, in short, 'not the boss day Star cast of characters line. Learned the ability to communicate with others, or the first contact When Bo the topic of the network after the decision, the most important is the cast of characters, the owner of, and asked him to help us and provide the resources we need, but if the communication is not appropriate, may lead to boss us bad feeling, also does not meet our requirements then the next step is to decide the time and content of the interviews, with the confirmation of the boss, and then, boss, but also the power of attorney, all I want to do in learning. Third, learn how to lead a team to make efficient In fact, served as the the CyberFair head of the most important purpose is to allow all team members to do their utmost to work for the team, but this simple, but difficult to do, on the one hand crew may sometimes have different views, two aspects of each person have idle time is not so as to lead a successful team is not an easy task in the network demarcation process, I slowly let each team members understand what they should do, they can also smoothly completed, this is probably my greatest achievement this CyberFair.
