1. Description of Our Community

Long chi are Mudstone Slope area, because Mudstone unfavorable crop growth, so the Long chi are most hillside planting bamboo tenacious of life. Long chi industry in previous years mainly bamboo, bamboo baskets, bamboo basket, bamboo shoots, bamboo shoots, bamboo-related products, With the times has been change, wages, industry migration coupled with the traditional bamboo product demand is diminishing, Traditional bamboo industry is gradually declining, Long chi Farmers Association in order to develop local industry, Under the guidance of the Council of Agriculture (COA) and Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan, R.O.C combines of the Long chi features modern environmental, with health trends and processing bamboo charcoal, hope by charcoal bamboo industry to increase competitiveness and value-added.

2. Summary of Our Project

Charcoal, has been developed in Japan for many years, also known as the 'Black Diamond'. Released according to the study charcoal far infrared can accelerate blood circulation and the body temperature rises, but also has strong adsorption, breathability and insulation function, it can be said that the charcoal is the new black gold of the 21st century, and isn’t only provides a new way to utilize bamboo, but also benefits environmental protection by reducing pollutant residue. Bamboo charcoal is an environmentally functional material that has excellent absorption properties. Charcoal using bamboo as raw material, the first cut into 1-2 meter long bamboo into the smoke house smoked, than into the charcoal kiln after high temperature of 1,000 degrees, after ten days of the carbonization process can be refined to become charcoal. 4. Problems We Had To Overcome

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We found that we were for many years the home of this growth, there are actually so many resources to see available original place we do not know, there are so many people silently in the hard work of their effort. I hope that the next opportunity to the friends and relatives of some of the surrounding towns, to do the introduction, and recommend it to everyone.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
