Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our local community is Austin Texas, the live music capital of the world! Austin exhibits many different cultures through the arts and most importantly, music. Austin is home to many famous music events and showcases its unique art in several different ways.

2. Summary of Our Project

International Schools CyberFair Web Project is a learning program in which students globally participate in creating a website. This website gives information about their local communities. The students conducted this project become ambassadors and use technology schools to display hat they have learned about their own community. This is a great learning experience for he students partaking in this event as well as others around.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

We all had access to a computer and Internet access throughout this entire project.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We had to figure out how to use our technology tools to create a website and also had to re-register after another group in our class deleted our material and used our account. To fix this, we created another account and had our topic re-approved. To inform ourselves on how to use the technology, we sought guidance from teachers at school as well as looked up several different tutorials and helped one another learn the ropes to making a website.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

To us, our participation in CyberFair means that we are being ambassadors and going out to broaden our knowledge of technology tools and on the events within our local community. We are then showcasing our findings to the world and showing what our community is all about.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The group has learned how to create a website. This project covers research, media literacy, and writing. The project has been a learning experience. We learned more about our city and Language Arts curriculem.
