Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Fuxing Township located in the West Chengdu plain edge of North Pujiang County, 21 km away from Pujiang County, across the Linxi River dam and five large and small mountains, east of Xilai town, West to Datang town, North of Wolong and Baolin Town, Qionglai city. Field average of 508 meters above sea level, annual average temperature of 16.4 °C. Size of the township covers an area of 34.55 square kilometres, a population of 13,657, 4,417 households.

2. Summary of Our Project

one is through our Web site to let the world know our hometown, maake the world know our lives and also tell the world that we live better and better. Second is through investigation, we recognize the changes of hometown, enhance our beloved hometown feeling. Third, in the process of the interviews and making Web pages, it exercises our courage, raises the level of our computer operation. Forth, through mission, it enhances our ability to integrate into society and improves our writing skills.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Hard learning tasks for students, teacher and student computer skills limited;The task time is limited, schools are lack of experience of making Web page;Teachers are busy, time and energy are limited.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The event has received strong support from school leaders and teachers. Through survey interviews, we understand the changes of our hometown, enhance our emotion of beloved hometown, foster our solid connectedness, improve our writing skills and enhance the level of our computer skill. We believe our lives will be better and better.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

School general course takes home-loving education for students, therefore, our cyberfair project research activities by visiting surveys, photographs, data access and so on, accumulated a wealth of educational material for the home-loving students, in cyberfair project research activities, the students have received a better education.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Hardware: Digital camera, computer, internet Software: Photoshop, Word, Dreamweave

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Reporter: interview with community residents, community leaders and editors. Young master: Provide useful recommendations on healthy living community for residents, such as suggesting residents to read more books, read good book. The advocate: To sensitize the community to the problems of health, protection of the environment, construction of beautiful garden cities and so on.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

First is to inform the community about the Western Story charity project; Second is to inform the community about school student life; Third, community residents know that they live in a better environment; Forth is to stimulate the awareness of community residents to public welfare undertakings.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

First community leaders warmly received our interviews, providing us with information and taking us to visit. Second, we interviewed with community residents to their honest and invited us to visit their new home, experiencing their new lives.
