Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Xiao-Xi Street is situated in the heart of a major business area in front of Changhua railroad station to include between Chenling Road and Changan Street of Today’s Changhua city. Due to drapery industry blossoming, Xiaohsi Street is known as the manufacture and wholesale center of the ready-made garments in the whole country. Also the train station added to street and the surrounding region to constitute a major center of commerce trade with its traffic advantage. The Street area emerged with taverns, hotels, bars and liquor shops which had expanded in ensuing decades. It used to be the most vibrant, diverse and charming place in Chuanghua. But with the time passing, the hotel business in Xiao-Xi street now is no longer prosperous, but many historical tracks have been left and wait for people to inquire and get the taste of the old Streets.

2. Summary of Our Project

There are several intensions in this field research. First, to understand the history of each scenic spots on Xiao-Xi street, we’d like to know how Xiao-Xi Street cultural heritages were preserved by interviewing local people. Secondly, we will create the Xiaohsi street tourist guidebook by collecting and organizing all the literatures and information. Third, through this field research, hopefully we can not only get more people to know the good old days about this place but also enhances its international visibility.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

In the thematic research process, we started closing find a lot of historical data, and shot a lot of photos, but we do not know how to start finishing. After several rounds of debate, and tongue battle, we finally get a consensus, with the common conclusion, so later we found the outset we must first determine the target, or follow-up will encounter many problems, they are not for nothing go to waste a lot of time in unnecessary theme.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We originally thought that the place of Xiao-Xi Street cuisine famous, after the actual visits, only to find the original hidden them in the streets of many past history and memories.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Prepared interview outline and questionnaire through the idea of Web architecture, planning and organizational skills, cultivate children issued by the actual conduct of the owner of the farm interviews and a survey of visitors to the implementation of the research program to enhance the child's ability. Take advantage of the Internet Search Jianmen farm-related information, the use of various computer software editing images, upload data, create web pages.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

1.information tools :Desktop PC,Notebook,Video player,Digital cameras, Printer,Flash Drives,Telephone and mobilephone,Voice recorder 2.The most helpful technologies are Digital cameras and Voice recorder,because by the photography, sound recordings, photographs and literature collection, we could carefully record the context of the development of Xiao-Xi Street.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Was removed through the recommendation of many elders, let us finally looking into silence to promote the development of Xiao-Xi Street Su family, through their views and descriptions of people, so that we can be precise-depth study of Xiao-Xi Street District.The pushing hands of Xiao-Xi Street, Mr. Su Yuzheng and Mr. Su Yinghua that our thoughts are very enthusiastic initiative to provide many Xiao-Xi Street, lead us deep into every corner, and a detailed explanation of each local history of the development of the local Bishi wemore fulfilling and rich content of the pages.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We hope that by our thematic studies, allows the general public to learn more about the history of the origin of Xiao-Xi Street neighborhood characteristics, and more, through photography, sound recordings, pictures and literature collection, carefully record the Xiao-Xi Street development context, the purpose is only to let Changhua cana better understanding of their hometown, but also allows Xiao-Xi Street back past the bustling scene.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

1.Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau agreed to authorize us to use the information it edited by books. 2.Xiao-Xi Street pushing hands of Mr. Su Yuzheng and Mr. Su Yinghua provide us with valuable information in writing and photographs.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

After the introduction of the Mr. Su, we found that the Xiao-Xi Street which hides One pretty famous characters - 'Giddens Ko', his book 'In those years we were chasing the girl' in the last year, local films.in an enthusiastic response from fans, through this research, we visited with his hometown 'people power pharmacy', although a few times to visit are not seen Giddens himself, but Giddens mother cordial receptionwe feel very warm, and also took a group photo with her, and later through her we get the Giddens signature, this really is a great harvest!
