Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Lin Liu-Hsin Puppet Theatre Museum is located on Xi-Ning North Road, Dadaocheng, one of the oldest districts of Taipei and just a few steps from the Danshui Pier off historical Dihua Street. In Japanese-Occupied Period, Dadaocheng is the gathering place of the famous Puppet Theatres, but with the decline of the Dadaocheng, Puppet Theatres has gradually migrated elsewhere.

2. Summary of Our Project

Enjoying puppet shows has always been one of favorite activities people spend their leisure time, and the hand puppets, shadow puppets and Golden Ray Puppet wear familiar to the ear in early days. Along with the rising of television, puppets shows are replaced by TV, and young people are more and more uninitiated. Lin Liu-Hsin Puppet Theatre Museum collects many kinds of Puppet Theater, and introduces the history development of puppets. We hope through the website of “Puppet in my hand - A tiny world of Taiwan local theater”, we can introduce the continued promote Taiwan puppetry museum and sharing our creation of puppet show and reflections.

School: There are 62 computers in 2 computer classrooms, 19 lendable notebook computers, are used to connect with Server Room by optical fiber.

Home: Using the ADSL for data query and file transfer, and apply a web page space at school as Supporting Website and Network Attached Storage.

Teachers & Students: Using the blog to communicate and discuss with classmates and teachers.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Firstly, Lack of prior knowledge: We have experience shortage to the knowledge of puppets and the method for puppet carving, must continue to ask the direator to understand. Secondly, Time of the questionnaire is limited: Because we can only do a questionnaire after school hours, the time is very urgent.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Puppet in my hand - A tiny world of Taiwan local theater. We enjoy to research the puppets with our classmates.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

With school-based curriculum 'Dadao-Chen' as the theme features in Taipei Municipal Yongle Elementary School, we expect to constitute small Dadao-Chen guiding and explaining volunteer worker's team in the future.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We use much information technology in different purposes. Using the telephone, fax and cell phone contact each other. Using personal computers and notebook computers surf the Internet to collect information. Using digital cameras and video recorders do a complete record. Using web page software manufactures web page.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In order to allow all our classmates to understand and learn the culture of Puppet Theatre, we condensed the research results of “Puppet in my hand” and the project webpage into a power point file and reported and promoted it to our students and teachers during lunch breaks. Moreover, we expect to constitute small Dadao-Chen guiding and explaining volunteer worker's team in the future.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Firstly, making the puppet theatre more close to students’ life, we want to share our puppet show with our classmates.

Secondly, through the establishment web page let everyone know how interesting the puppets are, then close and reacquaint traditional puppet culture.

Thirdly, through the analysis of Questionnaire, we want to provide the result to Lin Liu-Hsin Puppet Theatre Museum.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Firstly, thankful all the workers in Lin Liu-Hsin Puppet Theatre Museum , they accept our interviews and help us to takes image inside the store. Secondly, thankful our volunteer parents company us to enjoy puppet show...etc.
