Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Ankleshwar is one of the largest chemical industrial estates. It is set upon the ‘golden corridor having more than 1500 big and small chemical units. It is also the most polluted cities of India. People from different parts of India have settled here in search of job and occupation. It is small miniature of India where people live together and prosper; India believe in the concept of ‘Vasudev Kutumbakum’ i.e. ‘the whole world is a single family’. So the people here live like a family.

2. Summary of Our Project

The theme for Cyber fair 2013 is ‘Explore and unite’. In our website, which is based on the category of environmental Awareness, we want to make acquainted with our plan, action, implementation and right efforts as of our social and moral responsibility. In this website, we show you know how our school Shree Gattu Vidyalaya managed to make aware the people and made them active participants of a noble cause to save the environment. We have developed a strong bond with the community to come forward helping each other, cooperating, fulfilling the needs and solving problems. This project may become an inspiration, innovation and lead towards collaboration.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

For the first time we are participating in Cyber fair. We have the problems of how to present it in the form of website. We overcome it taking help from our principle and teachers. The problem of communication with people came to us. We sorted out giving the responsibility to each member. Every individual planned, thought, acted for making the awareness campaign successful. We divided the team in groups but we united to stand for our goal.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We learn and realized how awareness can create impact on the people. We taught them, educate them and work together for green and clean Ankleshwar.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We all worked together. We have to complete our academic work, still we meet regularly. We discussed and work on the project together. The school supported us in all ways. Our school works on the principle’s led down by Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda, where we get the message of ’Live simple so that others can live simply’. We came up with new ideas and solutions. We practised and implemented it and contributed to the website. Our project is not only the notion but a way to travel long which will definitely make a difference.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We used five to six computers. For photographs and shooting the events we used digital camera and hanycam.Scanner was used if needed. The school library was handy to get the required infromation. The magzines like'India Today', 'Down to Earth' and 'Science Reporter' were also used by us.Each and every tool was resourceful to us. We used the sites given in our bibliography for getting the exact problem and we used it to add our knowledge. Google was useful to us for getting different images.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We used different strategies at different level. In villages it was surely mouth to mouth communication. In schools and industries we used computers and make them aware about our environment problem. We used letters and pamplets to distribute amongst parents, schools and others places. In schools the team kept contact daily with the students. We kept on our work and we got an appreciation 'Clean, green and cool members' from all other students who liked our work. The whole experience was 'Bittersweet'

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The school always gets support from parents and community. It is our responsibility to create awareness and educate the people around. The people have learnt many things from us. They have become responsible, carful and aware about the various issues related with environment. Through our project they were exposed to the facts and realities. While working together we have developed a relationship of faith and trust. The different institutions supported us. We got very positive feedback from them. Our efforts of involving the people gave birth to many new ideas and initiatives.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

It was a challenge for us to club all our activities. The students did it very well. They planned it and distributed the work. All ideas, thoughts and actions were put together and executed. They searched for the information whenever needed. We are really thankful to our Principal, teachers and friends who helped us. We also want to express our deep gratitude to all directly or indirectly helped us to make this task achievable
