Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Art performance is the characteristic that we are pursuing; we have been invited to put on shows at schools of all grades as well as at a fun fair held under a roller coaster. Last year, we even had a performance in Kenting, a paradise for beach adorers. What is brought to the audiences has to be something different; therefore, new, exciting, and shocking ideas are always added to our art!

2. Summary of Our Project

We named the project “The World of Our Fire Meteor Dancing” for the club is an outstanding one at school. Hoping to promote our art performance in a better way, we make use of the project to have a thorough study of the history and to get a clearer understanding of our merits and defects.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:not sure

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

When we first started to gather information, we found it difficult since “fire meteor dancing” is kind of a new style of art performance, and there isn’t much related data available. Not having alumni to assist, we turn to teachers for help. Through all these interviews we did, finally, we made some progress.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Through the project, we hope that the story of the Fire Meteor Dancing Club would pass on from generation to generation. Our spirit could be seen and applauded.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Through the project, we have not only gained the ability to investigate, to search and to synthesize, but the techniques of website establishing, of statistics compiling and data processing. From none to the growing out of our fruitful results, we have realized “nothing is possible without teamwork.” If the project is done by one or two members, there would be great workload but low efficiency and poor achievement.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Digital cameras, personal computers, and laptops are used. As for software, Adobe Flash CS4, MicroSoft Office Word 2007, Dreamweaver CS4, PhotoImpact 11 are used.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Due to the project, we got the chance to interview the community, Though we did not get any donation, more performances were gained.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

In the impression of the community, students of our school tend to behave badly in academic performances. But, after seeing the websites we have built up and the videos we have shot, they would change in perspective and understand that there is a group of youngsters who are persisting in their dream – Fire Meteor Dancing.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Seeing our efforts in no matter the popularizing of the Fire Meteor Dancing Club or the establishing of the website (the participating in the project), we are winning approvals. Schoolmates encourages, teachers supports, parents admits, and even the principal give assistance in raising money from the community.
