Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Honggu District in Lanzhou is suburb. Development area in 1960, the total area of 567.66 square kilometers, the total population of 143000 people, the city population 95000, rural population 48000 person, to shoulder the Lanzhou, Xining two provincial capital city, has the' East and west' economic geography advantage, Honggu based on altitude, Echelon arrangement of vegetable sowing, and strive to create Echelon listed, have longer recovery period to market, continued to supply all year round, well make up for the southeast coast of summer vegetable supply gap, has a good listing of holidays, especially cauliflower, cabbage, baby cabbage, and other major varieties, has been around consumer recognition, consumer groups with a stable, accounting for a larger market share. 2010 export Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Beijing and other cities and surrounding areas such as Qinghai 300,000 tons, at the same time, also exports Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Malaysia, and Canada, and Japan and other places.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our school is located in rural areas. The income of farmers around t is planting vegetables. Through the project, students understood the development of the summer vegetables, the significance in the local industrial structure, at the same time, students, in the course of participation, improved their capabilities, which will lay the foundation of their future.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We had difficulties in webpage making. We consulted the technicians of Town and Talent Company. I wish to express our sincere thanks to them.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Being a student from village, only must we study hard, we could change our destiny, and then change the destiny of family.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We spent our weekend in gathering material, interview farmers, and sorting out the data. We used our knowledge learned in computer class to compile the data.

There is no impact yet. I hope that through the webpage, more people get to know Honghu, Lanzhou , and summer vegetables in the plateau

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The staff of the local agricultural department provided information.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We did not know how to make webpage before. We found things were actually not as difficult as we thought after we had done. No matter what it difficult is, we must do it with great effort. During the process of webpage-making, for DIY ability and for the thinking faculty, all have the remarkable enhancement.
