Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

At the foot of Qinling Mountains, Weinan southern plateau, people in front of the house, hillside fields grow many persimmon trees. Weinan people all know: There are three Weinan southern plateau treasures:persimmons, walnuts, rotten straw hat.

Persimmon in Weinan are warm persimmon, hanging rod, Banlou, Maokui, half pound, cupping persimmons many such varieties. Their nutritional value is not only rich,but also in high medicinal value.

Persimmon can be made persimmon, persimmon vinegar, dried persimmon and so on. But these are not really deep to develop and focus on the local, persimmons are quitly wasted.

2. Summary of Our Project

Two paticipating students, Wang Yi was primarily responsible for taking persimmon photographs, from the original western story picture library found persimmon pictures, searched pictures online and formed words. Chang Zelong modified the article, made pictures, uploaded information and produced website. Both of them are rather poor in the writing and computer competency, but under the guidance of teacher’s hands-on teaching, website design was completed as schedule.

School has two Internet computers, networking is more stable, but there is no Internet access classroom in the school, few students with computers and networks at home.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Students initially contact with webpage making who do not know looking information, making pictures, nor the production of site, however, with help and guidance from the teacher, we mastered many computer applications and webpage making knowledge.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Persimmon is a fruit that we are very familiar with, spreading in local everywhere, therefore it is easy to shoot pictures, collect. We use part-time, especially on Sundays can be done. Find information on the Web, we are also in our spare time to finish.

In the process of making websites, adjust the picture size, upload pictures, change paging and design websites, each step is new to us. The school had not offered computer courses, so our teacher Mr. Shi took part time to teach us computer application knowledge, after finishing the course, we entered the world of making webpages as soon as possible.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Many of our local people do not understand the network, nor is the blind spot of computer knowledge, but all understand computers and networks are good things. Through our participation in this project, many people know that we are promoting local products for home, narrowing the distance between hometown and developed parts of the world. They are looking forward to our success.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

No matter persimmon vinegar factory or persimmon cake stalls, are willing to let us take photos. when some women in rural areas know we are promoting home dried persimmon, they cut the persimmon to take pictures, telling us how to make dried persimmon and persimmon cake; Even some friends took us to shoot pictures of persimmon vinegar, explaining the usage of persimmon vinegar.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We found local persimmon vinegar has such a great value! What wonderful the network world it is! Making site is a process of knowledge and abilities increasing!
