The autonomous county of the Tu nationality Huzhu, located in the northeast of Chinese Qinghai province. Embroidery art is one of the wonderful flowers in the garden of this ethnic culture.

2. Summary of Our Project

Today, as the rapid development of industrial modernization and urbanization in rural areas, many folk cultural arts are facing being lost and distorted, the Tu coiled embroidery is also not an exception. In the process of making this special feature, we would like to, in the view of Li Faxiu's persistent pursuit on embroidery arts, contribute what we can for the preservation and development of the Tu embroidery.

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

There was only one computer room in our school, and all the computers were too old to run normally. In order to surf the internet to look for materials for the website, we had to spare the noon to finish them because of many classes and the schedule in the school.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1,Our classes schedule was very tight. As disciplined students, we could not escape any classes that we had to spare our noon to do this instead of at the other time. 2,Communication barrier. Searching for material was quite difficult because of the out-of-date computers, of which the too slow running was always challenging our patience. To improve this, our master teacher Mr. Dai cut off all the teachers' internet except the computer room's, leaving the last straw for us. 3,Due to our nonprofessional manipulating computers, we did encounter many difficulties during the website construction, and finally our website could be successfully built up all thanks to teachers Mr. Ma and Mr. Dai's patient guidance. 4,Conquered difficulties. Our classes schedule was very tight, so did the teachers' work. To finish our website on time, at weekends, we even came to school to make it that was several miles far away. And teachers Mr. Ma and Mr. Dai also put aside their house works and came to school to assist us. And our essays and diaries were all typed into the computer at weekends by ourselves. For these two days we were very anxious because of the approach of the deadline, the teachers were so busy in the school that could spare time to help us, but they still helped to contact with the teachers in Tianjin, asking for some more days for us. Moreover, teacher Mr. Ma encouraged us to have the belief of a strongest team that we could successfully finish the website. Thanks again for his further reasonable advices for our website, we did calm down and concentrate on every detail of the following things. 5,We were so sorry for our poor English for participating in the contest that we turned to the teachers in the Town and Talent, we sincerely appreciate that.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We felt great honored and proud of participating in this contest, for we have experienced so much in getting know of the embroidery arts, looking for the artisans, building the website and receiving help, hope and support from people most are unknown. It was their active participation that made the embroidery arts known and loved widely.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The modern society’s swift development urges the need of multiple talents, the unprecedented activeness of the education is attracting more and more attention in the society, resulting of the essential-qualities-oriented education being placed on the agenda. The native soil fine arts is of great characteristic in the village arts education, especially the embroidery arts of the Tu nationality in Huzhu County, such an arts treasure house should be fully used into the rural ethnic schools’ education. The ideal arts education is to get the students absorbed themselves in the artistic environment, most importantly, is to make the knowledge full of artistic sense and entertainment, in this way, the students’ dedication can be built and their individuality developed. During this activity, we mainly followed the route of the Tu embroidery representative artisan Li Faxiu in Huzhu County nicknamed “town of rainbow,” together with the local teaching, bringing the embroidery arts into school. The students thus could appreciate the marvelous embroidery works, get the sense of the greatness and profoundness of it and learn more of its cultural connotation. All of these above were done not by only us but countless respectable teachers and lovely students. Our thanks also go to the people who are always ready to offer us help and support. Also, we deeply learnt the importance of the team spirit and communication skills for promoting the folk culture.
