Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Conghui school for deaf-mutes is located in Linwei area Weinan city which is founded by Hegaili and Kouaizhen who have two deaf children. It was established in 1993. The approval document number is “No (93)008Weicheng education ”and the name is “Weinan school for deaf-mutes”. It was located in Yangguo middle school early. It was renamed “Linwei Conghui deaf-mutes school” after becoming a city. After moving, the school address is on the third group of Youxi City people’s office. Junior high school was set up at the beginning of 2002.Conghui deaf-mutes school is the first school in our city which has special education and has filled the blanks of special education.

2. Summary of Our Project

Participants in the three students are relatively poor, whether the writing level or computer application ability, the teachers basically teach by holding their hand to finish, so it is very slow.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dial-up modem

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The interview way is far away from school for deaf-mutes. Parents carry teachers to county and then come to school for deaf-mutes together; because the students contact web page at first time, so it is slow and ropey with the help of the teacher.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Zhangshan: I appreciate my teacher giving me a chance. I have learnt much network and web page knowledge. I will take every opportunity in my life. Shixuhao: I am took a broader world by network, I must be a more excellent person in my classmates who research network. Zhanghu: Even though I am not excellent in study, I have confidence in overcoming difficulties and studying hard after contacting the network.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Every step is new for us in the process of making website, adjust the picture size, upload pictures, change the page, etc. We have no computer courses, so teacher Shi teach us computer application knowledge in his spare time.
