Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

The Pingle old Town owns historical culture which located in the southwest part of Qionglai City belongs to Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The history of Pingle old Town can be dated from the ancient time, which has already had more than 2000 years. Pingle old Town is a national AAAA tourism area and the development of tourism has promoted the local economy.

2. Summary of Our Project

With the rapid development of the tourism in the old town, it attracts many tourists from other places. So the local economy has been promoted and huge money is invested by the government. The new scenic spot of wild geese in the sandbank is the centre of business, culture and entertainment. We can live, study, and work in a clean and beautiful environment. Compared with the old features, we know the development of local tourism can promote the local economy and enrich ourselves in the practical process.

There are one electronic preparation room for teachers and 3 computer network rooms which consists of 130 computers in our school. The students use the computers in a high frequency. And we have ADSL(6M) broadband in the school.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1. Lack of experience With the communication with Zhangyan and Luqing who work in Qianxiangwancai by network, the students know the related information of the competition and make plans with their tutors. 2.2. Lack the skill of operating computers expertly and the basic skills of designing web pages The tutors use spare time to help students to learn computer knowledge, especially, the skill of designing web page. Students use spare time to learn how to operate computer online from each other by hand in hand. 3.3. The time is very limited and the visiting time is short. The conflict between the time of classes and the time of activity is serious. To arrange the spare time reasonable, tutors contact the interviewee in advance by telephone in order to make a successful interview. 4.The information of classification is in mass. By introducing information and websites, the tutors gave us guidance.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We start from curiosity, from no nothing to know the knowledge of designing web page and use the basic skills. During the process of interview, we benefit greatly so that we understand the simple, solidarity, mutual help. Not only increase the knowledge but also cultivate our sentiment, which has changed our outlook on life.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

It’s important to pay attention to the degree and process of participation. To get purpose of exercise from the social practice, especially, the reform of new curriculums in high school pays attention to cultivate the ability of social practice. General social practice is a compulsory course which the research studies and social practice are the cores of the curriculum.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We introduce the cultural atmosphere of the Pingle old Town to the world by our practical investigation and inquiry to promote the development of local tourism business.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The tourism of the Pingle old Town undoubtedly has pushed the local economic. The completion of the commercial street which has the culture of wild geese in the sandbank attracts more tourists from other places. Our works are better to broadcast the tourism resources of the Pingle old Town to the world.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Director Xu, the director of Pingle scenic spot management committee provided free help for the interview.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Students can do the research by themselves, during the process of hands-on science, they use their knowledge and experiences to solve the problems; they have learned how to learn by themselves and how to cultivate human spirit and scientific literacy. During the process of DIY, they have learned knowledge and some basic skills of information technology.
