1. Description of Our Community
Zabrze is located in the west of the province of Silesia. First notes about our City this comes from XIII century. It is one of the largest cities of Silesia. In Zabrze there are many historic buildings, mainly from the nineteenth and early twentieth century, such as historic buildings in the center of Zabrze, workers' settlements, sacred places. Our school, nr 42 im. Nicolaus Copernicus has over 300 students in elementary grade. Our school community is like a small family. Our teachers and parents work very closely to provide exciting learning activities for the students. We have many special assemblies, clubs, and programs in which we can participate and learn new things. We have a strong character education program at our school. We are organize picnic and party for parents. This is family-oriented community.
2. Summary of Our Project
Our Computer Science Specialist, Mrs. Ewa Widera wanted to help us learn beyond our school walls and get actively involved and aware of the bigger world. So, she entered us in the CyberFair Project. We want the world to know that our industrial monuments are important for our world. We believe we all have the power to present our coal mine and more and more persons will visit our City and invite our industrial monuments that evolved into relic. Conventional picture of Silesia in common polish citizen is a gray-color picture, with coal groove on the horizon and dirty air. We want to break such vision by presenting interesting places, frequently didn’t known by local citizens and presenting our small country in more interesting colors.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome
During work with project, we need to across several problems. Each of us has another idea how to create project. It seems to us that the most serious problem was that our English skill is not good enough. We wait for materials too long. They learned intermediate level of HTML document description language. Pupils also additionally learned: how to work on text, document resources and sources, how to effective seek on Internet, students also improved their language skills and they have also found out a lot about the town's history. Also, a lot of our research was done on our own by visiting our local library.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
We have participated in Cyberfair now for several years. We feel that our work on this year's project, ‘GUIDO - underground path into the earth's core’ is important and will have a positive impact for the local Community because it will help to inform people in entire World about our attractions. Our great thanks goes to International Schools Cyberfair for giving the opportunity to do this!
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
Project fulfills assumptions of local attractions category. All skill and information that was achieved during project definitely overcome coursework and curriculum standards of elementary school. The pupils have to used and overcome a set of computer programs required to create a presentation. Students also additionally learned: how to work on text, how to effective seek on Internet. Students also improved their language skills and they have also found out a lot about the coal mine history. Soon the students will be presenting this project to their school board. This will give them a chance to strengthen their speaking skills as well as give them the chance to promote their project even more.
