Our school is located in the Liangtian town of the Jinfeng district in Ningxia. It is about 25km away from the Yinchuan city and belongs to the immigration Diaozhuang district. The problem of the left-behind children depends on the real situation in our school.

2. Summary of Our Project

Have you heard about “Xihaigu”in Ningxia Province? It’s not only a placename, it’s also a synonym for poverty! Our home is in this poor area. The eight counties of the southern moutain area of Ningxia Province (Tongxinand Yanchi in the Yinnan district, Guyuan, Xiji, Haiyuan, Pengyang, Longde, Jingyuan In the Guyuan district), with a total area of 30,456 square kilometers, accounting for 58% of the total area, is one of the poorest regions in the country. Within a lond period of time the people in the eight counties were under poor natural conditions, with low productivity and closed social environment and it was impossible to escape the traditional dependent on the weather. Later in the western region development, with the help of the Government and the autonomous regional government established a '3 West' project, which relocated poor farmers in remote mountainous areas to the valley with irrigation, the local people call the valley Diaozhuang district. The place we are living now is known as the Immigration Diaozhuang area. Our students are all immigrants here. Although we have come to the irrigated areas, no longer depend on the weather, yet around us there are many students, whose parents go out to work and leave their children at home and have very little time to accompany them. Those children who should be the apples in their parents’ eyes, on the contrary, have become a special vulnerable group --- left-behind children These are the children that we are studing.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:none

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dial-up modem

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Our school is only one computer room with Internet access, schools, classes and more, as well as scheduling problems, we can only rest time every day at noon and afternoon time for extra-curricular activities to the Internet to collect data room, the school although the access to broadband, but because it is the Internet through the server, the speed is relatively slow, especially when schools are in other offices when the computer speed would have been slower.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

First: How to complete the Web work meanwhile not delaying over the normal learning is a challenge. We do not go home every day at noon, using lunch break at noon time and afternoon time for extra-curricular activities, this time there is no class room lessons to complete the work, and many teachers and we are not at noon to eat at work, sometimes on the snack steamed bread, a tight heavy task. Second: shortage of school facilities, our school is only a digital camera, sometimes need to take some photographs to use the school's digital camera, because schools have to use something else, and we had to wait. Finally, the teacher brought the family's digital camera only to solve this misery. Third: We are a general situation, and so the statistics, because there is no specific time to visit these 11 students, and some students do not want us to his home, so they give us an interview with some of the difficulties caused Fourth: We will use the software very little. Because our school is very remote and, in 2006, only a computer classroom, in early 2008 was pass the Net. When in primary school had not set up computer classes, conditions at home and no computers, and our base is almost zero. The software will be used only Office, however, the teacher is very patient to teach us, let us learn while doing, and sometimes really find it hard, but we work together in the teacher's help we learned how to use Dreamweaver, the basic functions of Photoshop software such as encountered unable to do anything to the effect of the teacher to help us co

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Looking back on the intense two months, we experienced a lot and have encountered many difficulties, but when we see our website looks like work done, we are satisfied with laughter, and paid so much is worth it. This time, we have a valuable experience, not only so that we have learned a lot of textbooks do not have the knowledge, more importantly, adds to our confidence. We are all children in rural areas, less talking, in the teacher's encouragement and help, we take the initiative to interview. To collate the information gathered and statistics before they can obtain real data!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We investigate this in order to interview students in my school grades 1-9 staying in the main line of students, not only a combination of psychology, survey statistics, computer, social areas such as discipline, but also developed our photography, search, filter useful information capacity. This road is, let us deeply without good teamwork spirit and communication skills, we can not complete the web works.

Those children who should be the apples in their parents’ eyes, on the contrary, have become a special vulnerable group --- left-behind children. We want to investigate these left-behind children and help them gain attention from the society and make them feel the concern from the friends and the classmates around them. Through the study of the topic, we are personally conducted a survey with the left-behind students, understand their inner world, and learned a lot of textbooks, there is no knowledge. Exercise of our communicative competence, so that we have the opportunity to practice community to cultivate our self-esteem. More important is to develop our team spirit. To see our finished work, we firmly believe:I can do it!

• Throughout the thematic content, all from our team members from the relevant books and web pages based on historical data to personally write or re-integration, and we respect the intellectual property, sources of information were in the 'reference' in a statement. Most of the photos page we use the digital camera. Some of it is provided by our school.

Through the 'left-behind children' thematic study, we found that the students we surveyed a considerable portion of these students are left-behind children, we are only a small range, if the expansion of the scope of a larger province or country, then the number of left-behind children very amazing! So we start from us, care for them so that they can and ordinary children, healthy lives
