Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Pingle, a famous historic cultural town, locates in the southwest of Qionglai, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The whole town is 70 Square Kilometers. Pingle Town has over two thousand years history until now.

2. Summary of Our Project

In recent years, along with the social economy development and people's living standards improved markedly, the living environment of the requirements for more and more is also high, 'environmental protection' will become a social people's attention focal point question.Based on the investigation and research, surrounding environment, to think to innovation, encourage students to truly reflect the theme of his thoughts, in process, in practice, try to get exercise rich web content.

There were a lot of media classrooms in our school.There was one e-teaching preparation room for teachers. There were 130 computers. The students’ computers were used with high frequency. What’s more, all the computers were connected with the campus network ADSL(2M).

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Students did not have enough experience, and they knew little about the match.Students learned about the relating information of the match, through communicating with Mr. Zhang Yan and Mr. Lv Qing of the Qian xiangwancai Cooperation. After that, they started to make program with the counselors. High school students had too much pressure from studying, and had less spare time.Students arranged the spare time appropriately. The counselors gave calls to who would be interviewed to ensure the success. Students were rookies. The level of using computers was different. They did not have many chances to communicate with each other.The counselor taught students the knowledge of computers in the spare time, especially the technique of designing web pages.Students helped each other to learn computers on the Internet in the spare time.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Our ability of many aspects, such as the ability of observation, analysis, manipulation and social interaction, were improved through this activity. It was a challenge for us as well as training. Simultaneously, everyone’s consciousness of environmental protection and social responsibility has been strengthened. In the process of researching and designing web pages, students gave mutual help and courage. We not only learned knowledge, but also improve the friendship and strengthen team spirit. Through the social researching activity, students recognized the importance of knowledge, and improved the ability of social practice.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The knowledge of environmental protection was involved in our consciousness and legal sense in political degree, in historical events in the process of social development in historic degree, and in the problems of pollutions in the strategy of sustainable development. Additionally, all the courses learned in class could be used to treat pollution and protect ecological balance. In this way, we should learn every subject very well from now on.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Everyone should protect environment personally, and clean and comfortable environment would benefit everyone. Human being has only one earth. “Protecting environment is equal to protect men ourselves”, which should be the responsibility and obligation for everyone. The education of environmental protection could be read in every book. Through the researching activity, we knew the consciousness of environmental protection could be disseminated through the combination of pictures, words and sound or researching on the Internet.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The issue of environment was associated with sustainable development of human beings. Students achieved education through researching the environment around school. Moreover, we hoped the activity could have effect on the environment and strengthen the consciousness of residents to protect environment. The “questionnaire of environmental protection” was made in order to investigate the knowledge and consciousness on environmental protection of the students and the residents at the town. Every branch of the government attaches important to “environmental protection” when developing the tourism. The better environment is, the more tourists are.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Human being has only one earth. “Protecting environment is equal to protect men ourselves”, which should be the responsibility and obligation for everyone. The education of environmental protection could be read in every book. Through the researching activity, we knew the consciousness of environmental protection could be disseminated through the combination of pictures, words and sound or researching on the Internet. Our living and studying environments were the direct places where we could observe the quality of environmental protection. The extent of consciousness of environmental protection reflected people’s moral level, and the quality of environment reflected the level of national civilization. The education of school was to educate people, and people were living in society. Through the researching activity, we strengthened our consciousness, morality and legal sense of environmental protection, in addition, we protected environment as an act of consciously. From now on, we would try our best to learn and practise the technical knowledge of protection. We could measure the situation of atmosphere, water, biocide and noise. After analyzing data, we could report them to the government and the enterprises as basis, facilitating optimistically to the whole environmental protection.
