Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Kang Chiao Bilingual School is located in Shindian, Taipei County. The School strives to provide a bilingual, experimental and nature-loving environment for students to succeed in a global society. It is the most essential and significant task for students at Kang Chiao to discipline and develop their stamina, and the Kang Hsuan triathletes have set an excellent example for them.

2. Summary of Our Project

Triathlon is an endurance athletic contest in which participants compete without stopping in three successive events, including long-distance swimming, bicycling, and running. The Kang Hsuan triathletes are amateur, enthusiastic and devoted Kang Hsuan staff members who enjoy the delight of challenges.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1.Building a common consensus - team members need to reach mutual understanding and the sense of responsibility in order to work together on the project. 2.Seeking parental support – the research itself is very time and effort consuming. Therefore, an orientation targeting the parents is required to earn their support. 3.Scheduling interviewees- Most interviews were done through emails, phone calls and personal contacts. 4.Dictation and manuscript – before and after the interviews, there were various kinds of editing and organization that need to be done. It was not only difficult but important. It also takes much patience and willpower to accomplish the task. 5.Technical issues – members need to learn digital editing and many other related techniques. They also need to work in smaller groups and discuss various issues to be able to put things together.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

It takes great endurance, willpower, mental and physical strength to become a triathlete. The stories behind the fifteen Kang Hsuan triathletes not only tell about their experiences, but also prove that great possibilities lie ahead for those who strive to cooperate and make it through the challenges.
