Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Ningxia is one of the place of origin of China civilization, as early in old stone age of 30,000,000 years ago, Shuitonggou ruins tells a faraway but miraculous story. The road is boundless. In west Han, Zhangqian contacts Western Regions, the ancient silk way goes through Ningxi. Ningxia has become the main transportation route and important supplies commercial center from west to east; In 1038, the leader of Dangxiang Race estanlishes Xixia Dynasty, Xixia mausoleum nowadays can match in excellence with Egyptian pyramid. There is mountain, water, plateau, flat ground, oasis and sand in Ningxia. Helan Mountain stands erect in the west of the plain of Ningxia. Liupan Mountain have the name of 'green bright pearl' on loess plateau, is Shapotou famous both in home and abroad. 108 towers stands on the banks of billowing Yellow River. Sand lake which is 'gold treasure ground' are next to desert ……all of them constitute the natural view of abundant Ningxia. Pingluo in Ningxia Hui Nationality Autonomy is transition district between Han culture and steppe culture. It has Yellow River civilization, Xixia civilization, and Yislan special features culture. Xixia civilization in Pingluo, the “Little Jiangnan”, leaves many miraculous beautiful stories for people: The ancient tower in Ningxia is one of them.

2. Summary of Our Project

The Tianzhou Ancient Tower which is located on the Dongta Village of Yaofu town is the most special six side form ancient tower. After repeated discussion, our research begins from Tianzhou Ancient Tower. We chose 'the Tianzhou Ancient Tower' as main direction of our research. We mainly introduce legend of 'the Tianzhou Ancient Tower' on its position, structure, cause, periphery economy, and its present condition etc. We want hope everyone can have an overview of 'the Tianzhou Ancient Tower', and change it into an important beauty spot of tour in Ningxia.

The Computer of our school, the allocation relatively falls behind, operate, the speed is strange slow. For we are in village, internet speed is very slow. We can only surf on internet on Sunday in Yinchuan Mr. Gong’ home. The school prohibits students to go to Internet bar. We do not have computer at home, so can only wait. On class of information technique, Mr. Gong guides us to create web pages.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

First, we don't have experience of taking part in game, previously, we have never heard of have international high school student's web page match. In 2006, we know something after Taole Fist High School getting prize for their “Ningxia Food Interview”. This semester, under the Gong teacher's introduction and publicity of Xian Xiang Wan Cai, we understand it, register to attend the web page match, and become the role gradually. Secondly, our interview and research usually meet difficulties. Our instruction teacher's workload in the school is very big. During school time, the teacher can't take us to go out to interview, investigate. We can only make use of limited weekends. We do not explaint it to headmaster, for we are afraid that he thinks us do something useless. Arriving at the Tianzhou Ancient Tower at the first time, the manager in the tower doesn't allow us to enter. After the teacher’coordination, we just fulfill our wish. Again, time is short. When we know that we can attend this match, it is already mid- October. At that time, we even do not know what it is. After reaan ancient cooking vessel the notice repeartedly and communication with Miss Liu Na, we know something about it. Then to form our team, after analysingthe school difficulties and local characteristics, also referring to the works of 2006 and 2007 matches, we decided our subject as historic monument. After thinking, our thinkings are clear and begin works. The fourth, difficulties on communication with Xian Xiang Wan Cai. Our group can only communicate with Li Na zhang Wang Jun. For the limitation on internet, communication is difficult. We can only communicate with them in Mr. Gong’s home. Sometimes, some problems can not solved. Everytime, Mr Gong uses his own telephone to communicate with us. The fifth, going and seeing are difficult. While preparing the material of 'the words on Pingluo', we go to national AAA class Sand Lake. On arriving, we are scared by the high entering price RMB 80Yuan.We try to find information on internet. For the materials related to Pingluo are a lot, at last we adopt a “bad” plan. Every time, we go out, we bring convenience noodle and cake with us as lunch.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

There is no difficult thing in the world, as long as you want to work hard on it, everything can be achieved. We believe this match can benefit us a lot.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We takes Pingluo Tianzhou Ancient Tower as main clue, combines with our cultural background, sets about from our daily life, regards language writing, history, geography and art...etc. as foundation, and make coordinate them with information technique, social intercourse. We understand many history, economy, development, famous spots and historical remains, legend about relevant Pingluo County. We understand much history, religious activity concerning the Tianzhou Ancient Tower. We plan our homework time for our works, and we learn much knowledge which can not be learned in class. In the meantime, we encourage, help mutually in the creation and interview process.Our friendship is improved and we learn what group spirit is. We know 'our businesses, we make decision'. We still get help of many people, and this also lets us learn fow to love other people. We believe all of these are worth learning, we must learn it. After all, we come to the purpose of “learn to discover, learn to study, learn to cooperation '.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Hardware equipments: Computer, digital camera, scanner, excellent dish Computer software: The Dreamweaver web page edit, draws software, the writing data of the Microsoft Word to edit, still the book No.6 writing picture identify software, Outlook Express to receive and dispatch letter, the web page of Internet Explorer to browse, the ACDSee photograph browse/cut, TotalCmd transmission data. Network: The FTP Server, breadth net, bureau area net.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We think: It is our honor to let others know and protect Tianzhou Ancient Tower. Everyone of us should act as an 'investigator'. Accoran ancient cooking vessel to the data of collection sorting, we make questionnaire and make investi gation on different crowd. We send out the questionnaire to classmates in different grades, village people, business persons of the market, visitors, grandpa and grandmas respectively. We hope they can understand more about Tianzhou Ancient Tower and have stronger protection consciousness. We wiil put our research outcomes on web site and let more people know Tianzhou Ancient Tower through network to show the tower to the world.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Make us understand the Tianzhou Ancient Tower more: Passed this special subject research, we understand more about the Tianzhou Ancient Tower. Afterwards, when traveling at Tianzhou Ancient Tower, we will not write disorderly. We believe that after we finishing our website, more people will understand the Tianzhou Ancient Tower through our website. The importance of understanan ancient cooking vessel the culture of Tianzhou Ancient Tower: In the process of study, we know Ningxia has so many anciet towers. They are so special as mankind's cultural inheritance. And their forms are so abundant. So, I hope through this special subject research, people know more about Ningxia ancient tower architecture and come to Ningxia for travel.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Sun Wenzhong: I encourage Mr. Gong Kuipeng to organize students to register. I hope everyone pay attention to safty when going out. Jiang Yudong: I support Mr. Gong Kuipeng. I will work well on the student's work. Lu Guowen: I will do my self to support them. I supported them, which equals to attending the web page match. Gu Siwei: I prepare a digital camera, and direct them to handle the picture. I hope that they obtain success. Rulian: I will try my best to help you. I will contact the Master Ruguan for you

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

The Discoveries: I inderstand 'the best language is an activity'. Harvest can only come from practical action. and Our rains and winds later on, we can see rainbow. The Lessons : To each person, society is fair. The competent can acclimatize him to it, the incompetent think society is unfair. now, learn more at present, your future will be brighter. The Surprises: 'The network is the lever which promotes ability'
