4. Problems We Had To Overcome

In this project, we have overcome the following difficulties. 1.Because coming from diffirent classes, it is difficult for us to get together discussing our project at school. So we have to use the lunch break and weekends to complete our works. 2. Transportation from our school to Lotus Lake is also a big problem. We went to Lotus Lake us almost by bike or by bus occasionally. 3. We are not good enough at conducting interviews, designing questionnaires, taking photographs and tape-recording. But with the instructions , the teacher’s help and offen discussing together, we overcame a lot of technical problems. 4.Not enough time:Because we didn’t know the news of International Schools CyberFair till January. We have to complete this project just about in one or two months. That is pretty rushing! So we spent the last time we got co-working,discussing together and trying our best to make our project more complete.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

After a series of visits and interviews, we have a better understanding of the value and beauty of the old tribe of Tsoying. The future of community should be constructed with efforts, love of everyone . . We hope our works can make more people understand our community and also can create a better future of Tso-ying. Besides, we also hope that our works can share the 'local life' of Tso-ying with everyone in the world by this website and make people in other country more understand this beautiful, charming, historical place..

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We address a deeper understanding of the local culture by this research and we introduce all kinds of feature about Tso-ying with classification in post-presented form. Well, by doing this,we can reinforce people’s impression to Tso-ying and encourage more and more people to travel in Tso-ying.

The research activities that were related to Language Studies include reading, data-collecting, poetry writing, and listening and draft drawing…etc during interviews. Our research activities that were related to Social Studies include the investigations of the community's history and culture, local agricultural products and tour resources as well as the drawing of touring maps.

1. some software about photo-making, 2. skill of setting up homepages…etc

What we did in this field included investigating local products, experiencing local living environments. And most of time we had to solved lots of problems with all the participants including students from different classes, teachers. although everyone’s opinion is not always the same,we learn how to appriciate and respect other’s point of views.

1. By referring to previous projects. 2. doing more deeper research 3. consulting to teachers

1. this projest is all about our community

1.i found my edcational system is very big and all the menbers in this system connect with one another. 2.although I am just a very small menber in our school,in educational system,I can expree my thoughts, opionion, idea, and creation to everybody, and let my words be heard ,understood, and even emphasized .

Yes. Learning on the internet is convenient and more much fun . And as soon as we encounter the problem we can’t deal by ourselves,we can consult other’s opinion on the net. In addition, there is further more information we can get from the Net.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

They help us collect data more efficiently.

Some tools like digital cameras, computers, scanner…etc were donated by school.

City library.because we can not only get useful books but also get on the net to search all kinds of data we need.

Computer software.we can use different softwares to deal with different type of problem we encounter.

Digital camera recording: Visited locals to know more about details about this community. Libraries, books and the Internet: Looked for information about history and natural environments of our community. Mini MP3 recorder: download data and transcribed them into the computer. Digital camera, digital camcorders and image capturing cards: Visits and interviews were photographed and video recorded. Scanners and printers: The scanners were used in image processing. The printers were used in printing documents and photos. E-mail: Relevant information between team members were sent by e-mail Software: Namo, PhotoImpact, etc. * Most equipment above were supported by our school and our teachers. We specially thanks to our Principal

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In order to know what citizens thought about the community, we interviewed retired Principal Lin Chen-Chiang who had worked as a dean and a headmaster for 30 years in the Tzuoying area and some local residents. they all gave us detailed information and told us a lot of their experiences happening in Tso-ying. We also consulted some emplyees working for K.H.gov.for more imformation about Tso-ying’s future planning. Finally, we administered questionnaires to the locals to get information and their personal responses

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The city government as well as the community has tried hard to make Tso-ying a histoical attract center of K.H.city by holding lots of activities. By our contact with locals and visitors, we found that the tidiness, conservation of the environments and the arrangement of sightseeing routes had to be improved. What will the construction of Mass Rapid Transportation, High Speed Train influence the community? With regard to the balance between modernization and preservation of ancient remains, whether the scenery of Lotus Lake can be made best use of and well preserved is a topic to be pondered. By this project ,we wished to bring more people to appreciate the beauty of Tso-ying without damaging all the relics around. To do so, the government's policies have to be observed. If so, we believe that Lotus Lake will play a vital role among the scenic spots in Kaohsiung.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

First, we contact some K.H.gov employee for getting more information, including what the government was doing for Lotus Lake and what was planned to do to adapt to the construction of High Speed Train and Mass Rapid Transportation. But We didn't have sufficient or deeper detail information about some history of Tso-ying tribes.Lots of residents gave us some other information and food for thought about the impact of civilization on history. Former Principal Lin Chen-Chiang also told us how the community evolved with time and how he made up teaching materials of local culture. Teachers at our school offered a lot of help. Many institutes, parents and locals provided us with written information and pictures about Tso-ying. Even tourists and roadside vendors agreed to be interviewed and made our web pages more detailed.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

During the process , the computer is the tool that we touched most frequently .And that make all of our group menbers learn more about computer ,for example learning many practical skills, more realizing about computer words and finding more interesting knowledge from this website. But we also encountered many problem such as pictures being unable to show up ,time being rushing….ect.. Therefore, we were busy and tired all the time. We never thought that there are so many things we don’t know in our community . The most worthwhile thing is we know our closet land better. During the process, We are so tired ,but we are so happy because we are not only closer to all our group menbers but also closer to the land where we live . Therefore,we think it's worthwhile!1
