1. Description of Our Community
Our province is called Jujuy, and is situated in the northwest of Argentina. This province has a population of over 600,000. The capital, San Salvador de Jujuy, is an urban community in the south of the province. The city lies in a valley watered by two rivers: Rio Chico and Rio Grande. The region presents many different types of climate, which makes the soil very fertile. In addition, there is a vast and rich cultural heritage from past and still existing aborigin groups. All these features make Jujuy an outstanding tourist resort in Argentina.
2. Summary of Our Project
Our Cyberfair 2002 entry A Visit to Museum Pasquini, was created to record both some details of the samples in exhibition, and the work carried out by Grupo Yavi on behalf of our community’s knowledge of ancient cultures. We were told, shown and taught about the oldest tribal societies that inhabited our province long ago. In consequence, we have, on the one hand, registered the Museum activities, and on the other, we have attempted to draw a comparison between some weird aborigin traditions and our present customs.

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:none
B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6
C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dial-up modem

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):
Our school computer lab has been working since 1994, and is administered by a computer engineer with the help of three assistant teachers. The school computers range from donated PC’S operating on DOS to newer computers operating on Win . The lab offers a choice of courses for students and teachers, and the community as well.
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
We had to face some difficulties. In our country we have vacations from january to March, so that it was difficult to gather all the group members during this period. We also had troubles defining the topic of our project, since there were as many ideas as students were. The discussions about the topic would be endless, but in the end we managed to arrive to team consensus. Another obstacle was members’ attendance and commitment to the project. The closer the finishing date was, the smaller the group of students became. However, a fixed team was assigned the whole task, so that the project would see the light. We realized that some of us had skills for diferent tasks, so we needed to organize the tasks for everyone to be helpful. For example, one student with the highest computer background was like the lead designer, and he helped the other members. Two other students were very good at graphic design and video, and the only girl at the group was responsible for the writing and final layout. Teamwork and motivation helped us to achieve this goal, and we now know that we are ready for new challenges.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
This project taught us how to work in a team but we also learned many history lessons. We learned many key issues at the time of doing a real life project: respect for each and every student´s job follow the leader advices the real meaning of a deadline responsibility for the deliverables
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
The project is closely related to the school subjects, because it deals with the history of ancient people that used to live in our province. But we also learned how to design a project that could help other students to learn more about our history and region. We became skilled internet researchers and also had access to the behind the scenes museum tasks like reconstruction techniques applied to objects found in the excavations.
